Can We Talk About How Bad the Hitting Is?

I know we all know that the content schedule sucks and SDS is basically phoning it in as long as they hit their quarterly quotas, but can we PLEASE start talking about how infuriatingly arbitrary hitting outcomes are?
I just played a game and was up 3-0. My opponent then bunts for a base hit, because, you know, we want to reward all the skill it takes to hit the triangle button. The next batter he rolls over on a low outside pitch for a pulled ground ball that goes through the hole. Whatever...it happens. Then with runners on 1st and 2nd, he proceeds to hit a HR on a VERY early swing. When the actual [censored] did we decide it was OK to put a horrid swing on a ball and be rewarded with literally the best possible outcome? Why is this a thing!? Why is it even in the coding to have a HR be a possible outcome on a very early swing. I remember when you couldn't even get a hit on a very early or very late swing but now we're just handing out HRs on them LOL. This hitting engine is the freakin participation trophy of video games.
It was totally ok, though, because to make up for it, 3 out of my next 4 hitters had triple digit exit velos for outs.
O ya...he then proceeded to hit his go-ahead HR on an "early" swing. You know, because input doesn't actually matter.
I also struck out at one point on a swing that had "good" timing with the ball completely inside the outer ring of the PCI. But apparently I should have just been completely out in front of it instead.

The game has been playing very odd lately. The pitching infuriates me the most.

I just won a ranked game 5-2, all 7 runs were solo HR's...I'd say I deserved maybe 3 of the 5 home runs. A couple others should've just been singles or doubles.
I don't understand why the hit variety in this game is 90% homers

Game it so bad. Foul ball, foul ball, foul ball, foul ball, foul ball, until the game forces your pitch in the zone and they get a hit.
It's so annoying.

@Tylerslikewhoa I'm actually hitting for a higher average and OPS this year in Ranked than I ever have.
But wouldn't expect a troll to take the 30 seconds to look that up LOL

But to answer your Initial questing, no. We can't talk about how shitty hitting is becasue many of the players would never get a hit if they fixed the game

Exit velo is way up. I’ve hit way too many 500 foot home runs. Foul balls are an issue. Like worst than 2 years ago. I had an event game I won 6-1 a few days ago dude got one hit a solo homer he had 54 foul balls in 3 innings I had 7. Understand keeping casuals involved….but my goodness

I wonder if the foul ball issue is something that can be patched? Im guessing no but Im not a videogame dev.

Half the time I go to two strikes its because I fouled off something with good timing so I don't know if it would have a big impact on my bad hitting

@bjd10048 easy….cuz home runs sell video games. I think it’s as simple as that. SDS really gave the fan base a kick in the groin this year.

Was about to come here and post about hitting.. but oh my is it horrible. Not sure if it’s just battle royale or what but it’s either some fluke [censored] single then a homer and it goes both ways. It feels like the game predetermines who is gonna get the hits and it’s either you get the good rng or you don’t. There doesn’t feel much skill right now. I shouldn’t be winning games 9-2 with 12 hits then all of the sudden next game I can’t hit a beach ball.. can we just have a competitive online gameplay that stops really rewarding bad contact?? It’s so infuriating.
