Pitching??
-
I am a long time player in this franchise but I have NEVER figured out how on earth to become decent at pitching.
I'm not a good enough hitter to slug it out so pitching has to be my strong point and I am terrible at it.
I've used just about every way and still get terrible results.
If your a good pitcher, what do you do that works? -
Pitch fast to slow. Always an 0-2 change up low works. You have to throw balls. And for most hitters, pitch up at the hands and furthest away from the bat.
Lefty pitchers for lefty batters and vice versa. Keep the player off guard and never be afraid to throw the same pitch twice in a row -
I play many types of scenarios.
Up and down, in and out, left and right, fast and slow. Most pitchers are good at at least one, and the best pitchers can do multiple. -
I'm pretty average myself but I find not setting into a pattern (harder than it sounds) and not being afraid to use the count is somewhat successful for me.

Its impossible to be good at pitching this year. They have made hitting way to easy

you have to mix up speeds and pitches, intentionally throw balls, not just close to the zone, but eye level, in the dirt. it makes a huge difference. i haven't had a cpu at bat with more than 4 foul balls, cause after two / three, will waste a pitch. this has changed a lot of the experience, and has made playing the last 30 games or so a lot of fun. few games with 3-4 strikeouts and others where the cpu is very aggressive.

I go after the corners first and foremost. I play a Velocity pitcher, so I primarily attack the high inside corner of strike zone with either the old #1 (4SFB) or the Cutter, depends on which side of the plate is the inside based on the batter. Intentional high fastballs at eye level will help me deliver the low and away death pitch (for me, Slider or Screwball) for the strikeout.

I mix pitches and pitch speeds. And paint the corners and challenge accordingly.
