The check swinging this won’t go away. And it differentiates between each different MLB player, hence their discipline attribute. Some guys I can’t check for ish, others I have no problems with.
-
Swinging out of the zone IRL doesn’t always mean a miss or even a clipped ball. Dudes swing out of the zone all the time and get lucky with hits. That’s just how baseball is. Mix of luck and skill.
-
Kind of the same thing with what I just mentioned about randomness in real life baseball. Sometimes you’ll get a hold of one and smack it as hard as you can and it’ll still be a rocket to a defender. That’s just how the game of baseball goes man.
1 thing I would like to see but I’ll tell you why it wouldn’t be fair or wouldn’t work is having injuries on in ranked seasons. It wouldn’t work because say your catcher gets pulled and you don’t have a catcher on your bench. You’re SOL. I could see it working more of a pitcher gets hit by a liner
It is a video game. Competitive Video games should be based on pure skills. Pure input. Not on being lucky.

Please don’t listen to this sds

It’s a video game based on a real life game. IRL and in game some cheap hits are going to happen. Bloop hits and cheap line outs. Those are lucky. It’s just what happens in game and IRL

The thing is it doesn't know which one it wants to be, so it tries to be both an arcade game (RNG and Card collecting) and a competitive game (User Input).
Because it tries to be both, it does neither perfectly.

Call of duty is also based off real life. How many times does your gun jam in COD?

Your only valid point is #3. 1 and 2 happen all the time in real life.
-
If anything at all from this list could happen. It would be check swings, please get rid of them. That in turn will directly effect the ability of being a good pitcher and also net the results you want on people hitting pitches out of the zone. It wont be perfect but in my opinion this game would be 1000% better without check swings at all or maybe reward 1 in every 15 check swings with it

Don’t compare real life to this game. In this game Everything should be base on input. Let the better input be the one that decide games. No luck, no blooper, not late or early bombs. Not squared balls for routine outs.
I know they are part of real life but this is a competitive video game.

Then attributes wouldn't matter at all, might as well just play as a floating bat. This is a baseball simulation.

Check swing is based off the player’s discipline attribute. So “getting rid of it” is dumb. Check swings are part of the game.
Check swings are really dumb in this game though. I don’t think they need to be removed. 1-2 here and there is fine and realistic. 5 in an AB? Stupid.
They need tweaked but they shouldn’t be removed.
-
Can check swings be annoying? Sure, but getting rid of them altogether and calling every swing attempt a strike is dumb and unrealistic.
-
What's really hilarious is that even MLB can't decide on what a checked swing actually is, it's not even in the rulebook. Totally subjective based on the umps, but "that's baseball"!
-
Check swings should stay. They are part of input as well. Players quickly release the X button when they see something wrong. I agree that there are way too many and sometimes check swings go to far and still ruled as a no swing and sometimes check swings barely starts the swing and are called a strike. So, keep em but be consisten ruling them.

Not everyone is “begging” for ranked to be fair. It is fair. The better player wins most of the time. Just like real baseball.
If you can’t win, that’s on you. The game doesn’t need to be tailored to help you compete.
I know when I run into someone better than me. I know If I play a smart and have a near flawless game I have a chance. Also if I’m patient.
I know when I run into someone worse than me. I know I will beat them unless I’m inpatient and not playing smart.
That’s fair. We don’t need a game like the one you’re suggesting.
I've never seen anyone go back and forth with their opinion of a game in a matter of a day or two in my life. you started off by saying the game was amazing. You then went and said it was a dumpster fire and now you are back to supporting it. I don't understand what game you are playing where you go back and forth to love and hate with the game. Maybe I don't play it enough but I am already sick of it and I have been a pretty consistent player over the last four years. I am not trying to be negative but I'm just curious what you see that I don't. Is this all just because you bought a monitor? Has this game become so lopsided that if you don't have a tiny fast monitor and sit a foot away from your desk playing it then you can't be competitive? so I can't chomp on my pita chips and hummus while sitting on my couch staring at my $2,000 65in fancy TV on game mode? That's not good enough for this franchise? I need to have an office setup where I'm staring at a little computer screen just to compete? If that's the case then call of duty war zone it is.

Call of duty is based off real life? In warzone when you die, you resapwn in a toilet and fight a one-on-one match in the gulag. If you win you respawn in the sky floating down on a parachute. If you lose your game is over or your teammates can pay $4,500 to make you respawn in the sky floating down from a parachute. All the while a mysterious gas closes in on a tiny circle forcing you to fight your way out and then at the very end a helicopter blows through the gas and picks up the winning team. How in the world is this real?

The guns bro. The guns are based off real life. You have to reload right? Now answer the question, how many times does that "realistic" gun jam on you in COD?

What an ignorant way to respond to something that actually makes sense, other than the floating bat. If the game was based all on user input then ratings would make absolutely no difference. The ratings are there to differentiate between players and without that, input could be the only factor.
-
Ratings should be there to differentiate between squaring a ball for a single and squaring one for a HR. Ratings should be the difference between a pitcher throwing 95 and a pitcher throwing 90mph. Rating should be there to differentiate how hard or easy should be for you to input.
The good ratings should mean nothing when your input is bad.
