I love this game, and I think there are too many complaints. That said, showdown is the most infuriating thing I’ve ever played.

First, so much depends on luck. Get 4 extra base hits? Great...but I can’t control when my perfect perfect is a screamer up there middle to the center fielder.
Then, the final boss is ridiculous. I started 15-9 against Giles, took all the advice, and by 8 outs left was at 15-14, and he was at around 70 pitches.
Then, almost like a miracle, he starts painting corners...no more fastballs down the middle. Even a few backdoor sliders perfectly executed, and still hitting 97 at over 80 pitches.
It as close as I have ever come to breaking a controller.
I despise that mode..it might be the most infuriating thing I’ve tried to do on a video game, and I will not do it again unless I need it to get the boss.

You never broke a controller with this game??? You gotta step those numbers up, SDS will be disappointed to hear that

Got to have patience and take pitches.... I entered down 15-5 against Feller ...won 16-15 .... he walked people like Rick Vaughn - it was 15-12 before I started swinging the bat ... took my backward K’s, because 1 Kia better than hitting into a double play, had a sac fly and like 3 hits... takes time to do it, but you gotta let the pitcher dig his grave and wear down.... side note it was like pitch 155 before Feller got into the red.
-
My experience isn’t even close to that. I let Giles go until I had 8 outs left...he walked a total of two batters and I had no runs.

What Controller Button do we press to make sure the ball doesn't hit you in the Watermelon? LOL
U R Right too many complainers...SMH -
I am done with Showdown.
Was down one, runners on 2nd and 3rd, 2 outs remaining.
Hit a screaming line drive up the middle which the pitcher caught no look behind the back. Thought okay, still have another shot. Next pitch hit perfect-perfect fly ball to center which was robbed by Spider-Man climbing the fence and pulling it back for the last out and loss.
The CPU gave me not one, but TWO massive middle fingers and a giant F-U to prevent 70 program stars.
I have enough frustration being a single parent of a teenage daughter and a high school teacher trying to create distance learning lessons for everything from Algebra to Calculus... I don’t need this additional b.s.

I’m just slowly grinding through rival exchanges in the TA programs by buying 100’s of commons at a time. I’d rather do that than suffer through that RNG filled mode.
-
I find it's gotten harder since the last update.. but here's a video with some of the strategies I use for it.

March to October is also an awful grind

Showdown is about weathering the storm/momentum more than anything. For those old enough, it reminds me a lot of when you started beating your opponent by 21+ points in NFL Blitz. The CPU periodically goes into superhuman mode and there's not a whole lot you can do until it switches back.
Been said countless times on here but if they're not giving you pitches well within the strikezone, the game isn't going to reward you regardless of your input. You just have to take until the momentum changes. No way around it. Eventually you will get consistent meatballs.
Also... pretty sure they increased the difficulty yet again in the last patch. I did Kopech last night and there's no way that is All-Star, or even HoF. The contact zones, even with perks, were sometimes not much larger than the ball itself and I essentially had to swing as it was leaving his hand.

That's what happened to me when I faced Giles. I had like 7 or 8 outs left and he was out of energy but suddenly I couldn't buy a hit. That was the only time I had him in the final showdown. Every other time it was against Feller, whom I eventually beat. I actually didn't think this 2nd inning showdown was as bad. I beat it a lot quicker than the 1st inning showdown.
By the way is it just me, or did anyone else get Shane Bieber as a 2nd elimination challenge, where it was 0-0 and you had like 13 outs? I wonder if what was some kind of glitch?

I got that too.... was like no effing way... hit a lead off bomb and that was all for that one ... lol

I got him. I had to blink a couple times to make sure I wasn’t misreading, then spent 10 minutes telling myself not to screw it up

I agree. There have been too many complaints about a great game. I have been waiting and excited about mlb the show coming to Xbox. I love this game. I do mostly franchise though. It’s a baseball (sports) game. So patience is a must. I love everything about the game. The only thing I have difficulty understanding is the use and collection of the cards

Madden is the best thing that happens for the Show every year. Right when the game is getting frustrating/stale, we get to see what REALLY disrespecting your user base looks like.
The Show is AWESOME. Showdowns and Moments are terrible -- I hate them. But the Show is AWESOME.

I'm actually kind of scared of Showdown, having heard some rather intimidating stories. I was planning to try it out.. when I thought I was going to have to to complete my Field of Dreams program. Now that it looks like I'll probably be able to pull it off without it, I may not.
And yeah, there are too many complaints.
I'm mainly a Road To The Show player, myself. This year, I've expanded into Diamond Dynasty and done some really cool things with my team... though I still don't play online.
-
I did the Field of Dreams showdown last night. Second attempt but my confidence was low as I went into the final against Felix 20-9. Ended up putting up 12 with 5 outs left. I call it pure luck but I will say that showdown was driving me nuts.
-
I just picked up 13 home runs for Boston. Jim Rice with 5 bombs and Carlton Fisk with 4 and Ken Griffey, jr with a homer and 3 doubles, Bill Mazeroski with a homer and 2 doubles, plus 2 other bombs.
-
It's a great game for me on online rated and playing friends. I can't stand DD though. I think DD online ranked can sour people. A lot of clowns playing and pitching is way op . Online rated has clowns but you don't have to deal with 99 rated squads.
-
I think the game is awesome and too many people are complaining about nothing. There’s always some sort of fault in every game. No game is perfect. SDS , in my opinion did an outstanding job on this game. All I can say is this game is absolutely amazing. Sometimes it gets frustrating, but what game doesn’t.
