What I Love About This Game

When you have to get either hits, XBHs, or HRs, with a particular card(s) and the cpu pitcher decides to throw 99% of their pitches outside the zone.
Doesn't matter what difficulty it's on; the pitcher forgot how to throw strikes.
I just love striking out with someone, on a 3-2 count, with a pitch just to hope I can foul it off so I can extend the AB.
It's starting to counter my will to play.
-
You’re absolutely correct about the difficulty thing. It used to be that on lower ones, the cpu pitchers threw a lot of fat pitches to hit.
Now you can walk on veteran.

TA5 captain missions(which are 10TB) not just the "is he playing catch with the on deck hitter" but HBP,ugh so many HBP
-
One thing I think it’s teaching players to be much better hitters once or if they decide to play online instead of swinging at everything. I find players to be much more patient even with average to below average records
-
This statement sounds like reasons not to like the game.

Don’t forget when an OB is needed, the pitcher doesn’t throw balls and a hit is either a ground or fly out, or a line drive. Or, when an XBH is needed, there is already a runner on first that always stops at second, forcing a single.
-
I have a tin foil hat theory that the game “knows” when you are close to satisfying a mission and goes, “Not so fast, my friend”.
-
@capardo
Of course the game knows!Why else do you think it takes so long to complete some of these moments?
-
Yeah I’ve said many times if you are flying thru moments inevitably that last one will slow your roll 99% of the time. Perfect perfects right at guys or dying at the warning track and if pitching the CPU becomes Tony Gwynn and fouls off every pitch until they either homer or get a fluke hit. Glad others have seen the same thing.
-
It's also in conquest games. I just played the Pirates in the TA5 NL conquest map, and this play was called safe even though the settings are perfect umpire and perfect close calls.

Yeah, the trick, for me, is to stop playing when this stuff gets too much and makes playing not fun.
One thing I’m questioning lately is the perfect swings. What is the point of having this amazing sounding crack of the bat, and the feedback saying “perfect, perfect” and then the cpu makes a diving catch, or your opponent runs the ball down at the track?
I know everyone will say “that’s baseball”, but for me, this is not baseball. It’s a video game.

I think people would be happier if perfect perfect was removed. You can still have the animation but the feedback often leaves players frustrated when perfect isn’t rewarded or shaking their head when terrible input yields a homer.

People forget that perfect / perfect isn't THE perfect hit. There are still fielders and other factors that affect that perfect contact. It would be better if they didn't tell players it was perfect contact, so they wouldn't get so upset about it not being a home run.

@Blind_Bleeder
That’s exactly what I meant. I may not have explained it that way earlier. I’m not saying perfect perfect should always be a hit but perfect shouldn’t be a lazy fly ball or foul ball either. If they removed that feedback and just left the animation people would be much more content.
