Just got the game

I just bought the game for $20 on PS5. Thought it would be a good winter game to play while I wait for 24 to come out. I see we are on set 5 and can only use set 4, 5, and core players with 1 wild card. Can I not get or use any of the previous set cards? I have started on conquest to try and earn what I can to try and have a competitive team for events and battle royal, but there are cards I just want to play with that are in different sets. Am I just out of luck until the forever program comes out or is the set thing going to be there until the new release? Thanks for any help/advice.

Conquest will get you some of the previous cards as well as doing the programs. Especially
Team Affinity. You are basically limited to the set cards you can use in online games and some conquest or mini-seasons. The rest of the programs and games can use any of the cards unless you need specific goals from a certain set of cards (Like TA 2 needs season 2 eligible cards - Set 2, 1, and Core).Season 6 will open all the cards for everything, so there should be some rewind packs to get past cards too.

A few of the Conquests will allow you to use any card (not limited to a specific set). The US map Conquest is the obvious one. I believe there is a Default Mini Season that will allow you to use any card.
You can earn card from other sets simply by doing their programs. In 25 days we move on to Season 6 which will allow you to use any card you own so no harm in chasing a few cards from earlier sets if you really want to use them.
To see how you can get a card there is a tab on the card info screen that will show location. If it is part of a program it will tell you there which program it is a part of. You can also buy some from the marketplace if you have accumulated enough stubs.
Oh and a little advice. Don't buy packs. It is always a gamble and never worth it unless you get lucky. You can earn a lot of packs for free though by going through older conquest maps.

Ignore Skip or just block him.
TA5 was quick and the cards are great. I was able to complete it and have all 90 cards with the conquest, showdown and 1 mini season and 25 games of a mini season. I did it in less than a week but I also play the game way more than most. That’ll give you cards to get through the Finest program quick. I did it in less than 10 classic mini season games.
The rewards in that mini season are great.
