It is like this every year around this time. A lot of the less skilled/newbie/ or casual gamers have moved on and therefore the competition is much stronger in H2H games.
Regardless, just have fun and realize that you will improve your game by facing tougher, more serious opponents, from here on out....and hopefully less cheesers.
All three Ranked games I played today were 9 innings, no BS, fun games.

Only people still playing this are absolute sweats. Takes all the fun out of the game and there has been very little of it all year.
I’m still playing Ranked, I mostly run team builds or spin a wheel for cards at each position to use cards I normally wouldn’t. It certainly makes it more fun.
Except when they match you up against a dude who’s like 85-13 every game and has a full P5 god squad because they haven’t seen grass yet this summer.
That happened today, Braves build with that Snapshot Maddux. Boosted with Kimbrel. I won 1-0 against a “god squad”
Did you face a god squad or a god squad controlled by a goon like the OP is mentioning. Anyone can roll out a god squad in ranked but the ones controlled by the guys that can make 1000 rating plus each RS are a different breed.
For example, I am an above average player and matched up with a guy who was WS banner 45-0 recently with an all P5 squad. That’s a goon ( the record can be misleading of the guy is sandbagging and stopping before HOF each year, but to be a WS player with that record is pretty crazy).
it was an event and I blew a 3-1 lead giving up a 2 out 3 run walk off in the bottom of the 3rd….but he was definitely the better player.( in RS and events, as mentioned above, majority of the casuals have moved on and what SDS is throwing out there isn’t bringing many people back this year).

Played my first ranked game of the season and was down 8-2 in the 9th. I think playing on rookie in mini seasons really threw me off on playing on HOF. Put up 7 in the 9th and won 9-8. Crazy ending and that’s why you never give up. I enjoy the sweats and actually finishing the game to completion. Not sure why it takes the fun out of the game.

Let’s be honest those kind of comebacks are pretty rare. Sometimes you just wanna hop on and have a fun relaxing game but there’s no option for that in DD every game mode you have to sweat to be competitive. I know there’s a casual mode but almost nobody plays it and it’s hard to find a game.

No clue, I don’t look at records of my opponents in the load screen. I can tell you, they knew how to play, and had incredible stats with every card in their lineup. -

Sweats? Like the pants? I’m 50 so this went over my head. Lol.
Woo! I'm in my 50's. Wait... what are we talking about?

I feel to get a good game you’re better off going 2-0 down early. God forbid you hit an early HR and go ahead.
Clearly the change for innings for progression hasn’t made any difference either.
As for sweaty. That’s what ranked should be. It’s the elite game mode.
