Player models and ballparks are not proportionate
-
I've been saying this for some year now but it feels like player models are way too large. There's a reason why it feels like theres no hit variety. There arent any shallow pop up bloop hits. Its rare that a ball falls near the lines or in the gaps. I had to create a ballpark with deeper walls and elevation just for it to feel normal. It seems impossible to hit a grounder through the left side and it feels like outfielders have way too much range. It's because their player model is far too large. Anybody else feel the same?

I agree about the lack of hit variety but I'm not sure if it's because of the player models. Outfielders are way too quick to get to those shallow outfield positions and infielders always have perfect jumps and if for some reason they don't, the dive is still very effective. All the high defensive ratings don't help either.
But for me personally, there's a deeper problem to all of this. It's way too easy to make solid contact in MLB The Show because the PCI is too large. There's a reason why hitting above .300 in real life baseball is considered ELITE, it's hard to make good contact. Now people will argue that this is counterintuitive to what we're saying about hit variety, because the averages in the game are way higher than real life baseball, which creates a false idea of hit variety actually being present. But most of the hits in this game are and always have been homeruns.
The only way to effectively hit a single is straight up the middle or a pop-up that your slow corner infielder can't get to and even then the outfielder gets is most of the time.
The solution to me is to make hitting in general much harder. Not with pitch speeds, but with a very small PCI. PCI placement should be more important than timing. If you're late but the barrel is on the ball, you will slap it opposite side just like in real life. If you're early, you will pull it bat side but without a lot of power, just like in real life. That's how you get those shallow outfield hits.

That's a pretty excellent solution. It would make it feel much more realistic.

There seemed to be a lot more hit variety earlier in the year but maybe thatโs just because it was a smaller sample size.
Balls just get ripped directly at fielders very often. Most of the time they barely have to move to get a ball thatโs hit with 100+ exit velo.
I donโt think itโs just player models. Itโs sliders being tweaked, 100+ ratings, and having speed and diamond fielding at basically every position. Plus you have guys like Elly and Judge that are giants out there. Making players models smaller will help but thereโs a lot more to it.

Bravo my friend. I think you just described 17. You know the game that worked. The game that had the same pitch speeds and a different size PCI for each level.

Glad to have you back @Twisted24_MLBTS
Agree with all of you here gentlemen, hope SDS can replicate the hit variety we has early in the year.
