Most effective way to “invest”

Takes a few hours to clear but not an active few hours. I am up early so typically do most of my buys before 6-7am EST and then just leave sell orders out there to eventually clear.
^^ this
Make your orders in the morning/evening and come back later in the day. The key has always been patience when flipping. If you can do that then you can make a huge profit.
I have over 315 cards in from series 2 and over 285 from series 1 and all the stubs I need.

I’m more than familiar enough with flipping to know 50k a day takes a solid few hours. Way too much time
So flipping takes too long for you to get a return...but you want to try investing.
lol okay...
Also, I finished the Live Series collection by Easter weekend. I have all set and core collections finished. It's not that slow or difficult.
I don’t know the method of investing, hence why i created the post. Some of you are seriously special.
You had the live collection done in 2-3 weeks, so you essentially spent 30-40 hours a week on the game. Got it. Some of us are a little more casual, and don’t have hours upon hours a day to flip in addition to the program grinds and getting your occasional ranked games in.
No. I actually barely played those first few weeks since my son was born around then. That's my point. You don't need to commit a ton of time if you know what you're doing. Jeter was waiting for me by the time we got home from the hospital.
If you would prefer to invest tens of thousands of stubs into Live Series players in the hopes that they get an upgrade weeks from now...go for it. People do make a lot of stubs investing in potential player upgrades, but it is the exact opposite of fast, and it requires a bit of luck.
Meanwhile, I made 100k today and haven't even turned on my console.
Im at 90k today but thats only because i took a gamble with the 40k diamond duos (i got it right and got Schwarber) point beign stubs can be had by flipping if you know what your doing
Btw congratulations to you and your family.

Exactly. An hour max in total market time spread across the day can net you an easy 70K-100K. It's brainless.
I even sent the OP a DM last week telling him what to flip.

Dear SDS,
How can I get rich quick? Preferably without time, effort or skill.
Thanks in advance!
Nah, but you’re insecure wisecracks are still always entertaining
Insecure wisecracking? This guy has some of the best most accurate information on this forum, you're not even close to being as helpful or knowledgeable as him.
With that said, man up and figure out your own way to make stubs instead of begging everyone else.

Whole point of this forum is for people in the community to discuss the game and help others, simply asking for guidance or tips isnt begging. Dramatic much??
I know SaveFarris and what he does, I respect what he does, I’ve been around for many many years. But if you can dish it out then you can expect to get it back. No need to get butthurt on his behalf

And I appreciated you reaching out. I had i think 2-3 orders go through over the span of 2 days…so thought maybe i wasn’t doing something right.
But as the previous dude said, might just be time to “man up” and figure out my own way. Gotta track down mom and dads credit card

IMO, SDS increased the opportunity cost of investing this year by slowing the upgrade/downgrade cycle. In past years, you could buy and hold a player in the hopes that they get an upgrade (to do that I download the past X weeks worth of player data - since the last upgrade - from Fangraphs and compare it to the current player ratings and see if anything is out of line). In past years, that would happen every two weeks. Now, we haven't had an update in a month. Fewer opportunities all around. Still worth doing, I think, but definitely not as good as years past. Stop me if you've heard that one before...

The most effective “investing” imo is when the market crashes either because of a Flash Sale or content drop. For those that flip on the market it’s easy to notice when this happens. When it does, there is a time-limited opportunity to put all of your stubs into artificially depreciated cards and then sell them a few days later for 25-100% returns. Doing that coupled with flipping is why some people have a lot of stubs even in a “handout-less” version of the game.
-
I would imagine the best way to invest would be at the beginning of the season. Having a hunch about a player you feel is underrated and you bet they will get multiple upgrades over the year. I don't pay attention to other teams stats so I would have invested in Outman early on. I didn't though. I flipped silver equipment at small profit early on and was able to complete LS by Easter. Once I got my balance over 2.5 million I put in bids on ever diamond equipment over 10k and just constantly flip when I feel like. It is important to know pay attention to sales on packs and stubs and know when a card is undervalued. Some of the higher diamond equipment will drop to 25k or below during valleys and return to mid 40ks in a few weeks.

This too. I play in a lot of Dynasty Baseball leagues and so know the minor league player pool very well. At beginning of the year I bought over 200 Hunter Browns and then about 60 Corbin Carrolls. Corbin “should” payoff today to Diamond I would think and Brown can make Gold in time but probably never Diamond. But I bought those guys in April and it’s almost June. So while that is “investing” to the points made above by others there are faster/better ways.

Not [censored] hurt at all, just telling you how it is.

So, since I am done trying to earn stubs right now as what I have will carry me through until I am done playing I will give my approach to "investments".
#1 I don't do investments anymore and haven't for a couple years now. Meaning, I do not try to buy up cards in anticipation that they will go diamond. Oh, and I NEVER mess with silvers or other cards. I only care about cards that have a chance to go diamond leading up to an update.
-
I use fangraphs for hitting and pitching leaders and use a custom date range for the update period. Example: this update I used June 1 to June 28. I then build custom player filters on fangraphs for hitters and pitchers using the names of 82-84 OVRs of live series cards.
-
I compare the top 3-5 of each against the card OVR to determine if I think they have a chance to go diamond. For example, Bo Bichette was an 84 OVR but was, statistically, lower middle of the 23 player custom list that I created with a 0.5 WAR for the update period. I can rule him out from going diamond, esp with his common fielding. Compare that to Seager who is an 82 but KILLING the ball in those 25 games. He has a chance to go diamond. Robert and Harris, also 82's had a chance to go diamond. Then there is Carroll, also killing the ball, who has a chance. Everyone else on the list doesn't seem like good candidates for diamond.
Now I gotta do some educated guesses on who I think will go diamond. BUT, I haven't invested in any of these cards so how do I do investments? Buy orders.
- Once I make my educated guesses on who might go diamond I place significant buy orders for their cards at a significantly lower price point. Usually 1K lower as a minimum. Example: this week I put buy orders in for Seager and Gausman. I think I have 170 buy orders for Gausman and around 155 for Seager (haven't looked and can't remember). The Gausman buy orders are for 1650 stubs/each and Seager is for 1801 stubs/each.
If you pay attention to the market at all you know that people just sell to the highest sell order instead of listing on the market very, very frequently. Go look at the completed orders for Seager and Gausman. You'll see many, many completed in the sub 2K range even though the card quick sells for 3K now. This is what I "invest" in. I place massive buy orders on educated guesses for cards that stats have indicated have a chance to go diamond and then wait for my orders to complete. Once they do, I quick sell all duplicates and profit.
Do I lose out on some? Sure, I "invested" early on that Bogaerts, and a couple others, would go diamond. They did not but I did hit on others. Most of my educated guesses, however, do pan out. I could provide it with my completed order history if anyone truly wants to challenge me on it but you'd be wasting your time.
As I said, this updated I took educated guesses on Seager and Gausman and they both went diamond. Now I am just waiting on my orders to complete which should happen sometime tonight or maybe tomorrow based on my experience.
Have I have put in buy orders for a card that went diamond but the orders didn't complete? Twice. Last year it happened (can't recall the player) in part because there were so few packs being handed out last year with no TA and no XP wheel. Two years ago I remember putting in buy orders for Correa who went diamond but I got greedy putting in buy orders REALLLLLY low that that did not complete. Be sensible, hold your water and they will complete.
Anyway, that's how I do "investments" and usually make 500K+ profit per update period for something that takes less than 30 mins. I generate the fangraphs list the day of the update and start putting my buy orders in around 2:30pm (30 mins before update).
I hope this helps someone out. Plenty of stubs to be made from "investments" in this game though SDS has tried to make it harder with the card value changes and slowing the pace of updates.
