Would I be crazy to sell these cards for Mantle?

I know there have been a ton of Mantle question threads, and I do apologize for making another one. But I have been tempted for the last few days to finally buy him, but I would have to liquidate most of my season 2 sellable cards. I would have to sell the new Yordan, Chris Sale, Sandberg, Yount, and Sizemore, I think that would get me enough to get Mickey.
I have guys I could plug in for those that I would sell, mostly TA or other program cards. I'm really debating doing it, having Mantle and Chipper in the same lineup would be nice. I am just wondering if he would be worth it. I have loved his cards in prior games, so it is a tough decision.

Play with the cards you want, it’s never crazy if you want the card.

Got crazy lucky with a free pack for doing small equipment collections like 5 Gloves, 10 bats, 3 shin guards, etc... and got a Chase pack with Mickey.
I about fell out of my chair.

If you dont use them at all and you plan on using Mantle on your main squad then go for it. If Matnle doesn't work for you can always just sell him back.

If your getting him just because of his rarity, no. If your getting him because of the switch hitting bombs, speed and fielding and plan on using him for a long time yes! There will be more and more great cards constantly dropping but his skill set is pretty rare.

Thanks, everyone for the input, I did end up getting Mantle for 356k. I really didn't have a CF I was comfortable with, I had Sizemore but I just can't hit with him. So I wanted The Mick for his skill set and switch-hitting, as I now plan to start playing online more. I actually didn't need to sell Sandberg but I did so I ended up with about 85k left after getting Mantle. I bought Utley to replace Sandberg and bought back Yount. Plus I'm about 2k away from a boss pack so I can grab Mo again. Sale is really the only card I am missing, but maybe I'll have some pack luck.

It sounds like it might be a bit late, but…. my suggestion was going to be sell off all your cards now but wait a few weeks to buy mantle. Prices are always inflated during stub sales. So now is a great time to sell but not the ideal time to buy.

That is a good point, and I thought about it. But I think they posted that we are getting a new chase pack card this week, so I was kinda afraid that Mantle would start to become short in supply. But I do appreciate the advice as buying him during the stub sale was probably silly on my part.

Yeah I’ve been debating selling harper whom doesn’t play and possibly like captain goldy or mize which would net me mantle. Trout has been struggling in cf for me

It's a great question, and an unanswerable one. Because the game is now about hoarding hundreds of cards you don't use/want/need to "prepare for collections" that will eventually come.
For me it's an incredibly demotivating design decision, so I'm not really invested in it (pun not intended, but it fits).
SO, if you love Mantle and want him really bad, then you're sacrificing collections in the future.
