To each their own and all, but I don't get how so many people play on rookie so much to just mindlessly pad stats. It sounds so boring. I'm not that great or anything, but I always play the CPU on All-Star and am still having fun playing. Based on the forum, it seems like most people that play this game complain about how much they hate grinding. Maybe try just actually playing on a legit difficulty level and having fun rather then playing on rookie in a fake stadium with 200 foot walls and expecting every hit to be a homer.
I’m not here for a cpu grind to be interesting or a challenge, I’m here to get it done as quickly as possible. That’s it.

TA2 is a shorter grind, use the nickname bosses,1k pxp with them and that counts for team pxp too and for each 2k pxp that 3 missions and 15k toward the division, much much faster.
-
Completely agree with all of this. I've played DD and tried to collect as many cards as possible every year starting with '18 and this is as bored and annoyed as I've ever been with the game.
The perfect/perfect outs in particular seem to be ramped up this year. Especially in Moments and Showdown, where they are just plain inexcusable. User input, not luck, needs to matter in those modes.
But hey at least we get useless cards with cute names! That's fun!
-
TA2 is so much faster than 1. The exchanges are more reasonable, team pxp is 2K and not 2.5K.

I agree that this year is a huge regression. My favorite part of this game used to be the collections - collections that helped progress through programs/innings/whatever SDS called it that year, a collection for each card series, the mega collections, etc. My entire motivation for playing the game was to complete every collection and get as many cards as possible. This year they stripped all that out for one mega series for every set. 2 seasons into the game and it takes 5.6 million stubs to complete both set 1 and 2 collections with cards at quick sell value. (Yes, I know there's a lot of cards that are free, but there are almost no cards at quick sell value either.) I like the challenge of working for the collections, but the motivation for the mindless grind just isn't there when you don't see a path to completion. I'm hoping that a week break for vacation is all I need, but I guess only time will tell.

I have to try to get out playing the CPU on Veteran so I’m not sure what the gripe is about Rookie not being easy enough. Maybe just don’t even play on Rookie at all. Try grinding on Veteran.
I do agree that the content schedule has been a massive L though. I remember when they first announced this sets/day 1 99s idea and I came on here and bashed it. People responded with saying, “it’s SDS, they clearly had to put some thought into this and plan it.”
Well guess what? They didn’t. They just drop whatever cards they want with very little planning at all. I think if anything good comes from this year, it’s that this community becomes more critical of SDS and gives them less benefit of the doubt because they are clearly taking advantage of it.

Lol, the douchebag troll is back! Only plays online ranked, but really primarily plays forum troll.
No, douche, that wasn't my argument. No gold star for you today.
Now go back to your corner and continue to whine about how you can't select different uniforms in your little part of the universe.

Veteran is often weirdly less frustrating than rookie, true. But it misses the point. That's just a design quirk that SDS surely didn't intend.
And to be clear: it's not difficult, just made more frustrating for no reason.

Also...
What I should have incluced in my OP is that they ramped up the grind massively this year, made CPU rookie pitchers more frustrating, and made it harder to make stubs to buy cards. Making BR and RS rewards unsellable goes into that as well.
Honestly, unless you live this game you're not unlocking the best collections. The time buy-in has become too much. It's really based on a junkie drip algorithm meant to keep you coming back for a fix. And the drug ain't that good any more, sorry.

lol you are bang on - i just cannot bring myself to slogging rookie mode and CPU offline playing - no way jose
i did that game launch so i could amass stubs and get NL done and most of AL - now im not doing any offline ill play with what i have - the idea that people are sinking their whole lives into ...... this game lol
its beautiful outside today ill do real life and then when it gets dark out, maybe play a RS or two

Lol. So your complaint is you don’t want to work for it… got it.

Yep, that's it! You got it! Nothing more nuanced than that.
If SDS wanted us to "work for it," rookie difficulty wouldn't be an option.
They're caught in-between. They want to be the anti-EA company that makes NMS possible, but through a thousand little cuts this year they've made NMS even more time-consuming and frustrating.
In a way you're right, though. For what I get out of, say, the Kaiju or Incongnito programs -- I DON'T want to "work for it." There's a huge disconnect between the effort/time needed and what you get in return. Lots of people are feeling that.

Playing video games should not be work unless you are playing for money in a competitive tournament. Using the work for it argument is laughable because most of us aren’t playing to work we are playing to zone out and relax. The argument is a no win situation because the get good competitive crowd will never understand the casual player crowd and vice versa. Personally I reserve my competitive side for real life but if games are your thing there is no judgement on my side and I’m not being sarcastic. To each their own.

Yep, thanks. He is right in a way, like I put in my post. But like you, I don't want to have to "work for it" to get 90 OVR cards. I will "work for it" in RS, Events, or BR. They're different things...

I’ve been playing DD for 3 years now. Each year my goal is to complete all Collections, not collect all cards. I’m offline only and I honestly don’t see how I’m going to finish. I’m OK grinding and I’m OK not finishing until December. Again, I just don’t see how I’m going to finish. And that’s disappointing.
In ‘21, it seemed every time I did “ something” in DD, I got a card for a Collection. That doesn’t happen this year. Every time I took a stronghold in Conquest, I got a pack of something. That is no longer the case. I seem to play many nights this year and at the end, I have little in DD to show for it.
IMO, they’ve made Conquest more difficult, they’ve made vs CPU more difficult. Same with Moments(if that’s possible). Just about every aspect of the offline experience is less “relaxing” and more difficult.
To get a couple of Easter Eggs, I played two Event games and a Ranked game. I got a bunch of something’s for Collections then!
I’ve said this before, SDS is nudging/encouraging us to play online. I’m not sure why.
-
To add, they’ve admitted they made Showdowns more difficult this year, by lowering the difficulty on the Charisma program.

I agree with a lot of what you said, but I feel the nudging is more to offline. Every program is designed around showdown, conquest and pxp missions with cards that most people don’t want to use online. You can’t complete programs without spending hours offline and there are programs non stop.

Playing any random MLB cpu team they will be filled with silvers mainly, some golds and maybe a diamond or two. You can have a 99 pitcher going to battle with a low silver cpu player. 48 contact 57 power bots should not beable to turn into a Barry Bonds plate appearance.
-
Yeah, I’m gonna add something else. Sorry for the long rants today…
This just adds to the “I seem to be grinding for little in return”…..
I am at 191k in the Season 2 XP Reward path. That is more than 1/4 of the programs 650k. (Yes, there is the bonus wheel, I get that).
I have ONE collection card from this season. ONE. Just got an Incognito card. Everything prior to that is just about useless, frankly.
Way too much grind for way too little rewards, IMO.
