BR Program: From a 'casual' player's perspective
-
Yeah...and every time you enter, you get a pack...even if you go 0-2, right?
A pack that costs 1500 Stubs, no?
Funny but you left that out of your entire word problem...the 60K in Stubs you use also gets you 40 Packs. Plus the reward.
IDK...I don't see what the fuss is about.
But I play online for fun and would play without the little digital dopamine "rewards"...

Buy a pack and see if you get 1500 stubs worth of cards. You don't. And I'm not saying that you should get your 1500 back.

I just tried your explanation of getting a pack for my entry fee as I just bought a pack thru the store.
I got a Silver Icon (100 stubs), three Common players (15 stubs), and a Bronze player (25 stubs).
So 140 stubs. Yeah, still not worth it. Unless you can go 12-0 and get the 4,000 PXP bad 30+ hits in at least one run; it's not worth it for a non-sellable card. Especially one that can only be used for a few months unless you want to use it as your ONLY Wild Card spot.
I'm sorry. This and the WR Program pack not being sellable along with all the issues we had with Mini Seasons, the Head Start Rewards not working, crickets about cool down penalties due to freeze offs, and everything else SDS is being silent about is going to deter a lot of people from returning.
Some say good that will weed out the casuals. But how is everyone going to feel when EVERY H2H game is sweaty and a 2-1 run game?
And honest I'm confused by your response. First, days ago, you blasted them about all the 99s being available and now your happy that this 99 is unsellable?

Can we get a TLDR version? I ain't reading that frigging wall of text.

Back in my day we used to read walls of text for fun. Uphill. In the snow. Both ways.

1 Bronze ScrubHardly worth your entry to BR. When did you start playing DD? You used to be able to buy all the LS cards, lock them in and get the rewards and then quick sell them to get some of your stubs back. You used to get a card after every game played whether it was Conquest, Vs CPU or any game. Now its only Vs CPU. Slowly but surely they are eliminating every avenue of making stubs without spending real money and you don't see what all the fuss is about? Yet you can't stop complaining about all the high diamonds being released early. I've seen the forum come full circle since 16. Thanks for the wake up call.

Well said. I was honestly ok with them removing the ability to quicksell locked cards back then(because at a certain point in the year the LS and other small collections were literally free after the quicksells), but this monetization path they are going down is probably going to drive me away from this game for good(I used to play 2k more than this game fwiw, quit that around 18). Plenty of good games on the PS+ Extra and premium services I've been wanting to try so it's probably for the better.

Where did I make the argument that you should get the 1500 you spend back in every pack?
I’ll sit and wait for an answer…it’s gonna be a while…because I never said that.
But nowhere was it mentioned in that long rambling word problem OP made.
40 entries into BR to complete the program will cost you 60k and get you 40 packs. That’s just a fact. All I was pointing out was that it was conveniently LEFT OUT…

"Tried my explanation"...? WTF does that mean?
I just pointed out a FACT that the OP (conveniently) left out of his post. Kinda funny to make a long rambling post like that and leave out the 40 packs someone would get if they spent 60k on BR entries to complete the Program.
Not sure what my take on all the 99s has to do with this?
You're confused that I could have one opinion that is against SDS and one that backs them up? LOL!
First off, this just shows that a lot of you don't even understand WHY I'm not a fan of all the 99s.
The quick answer is...I don't want to play against entire teams of 99s when my team isn't all 99s. And it's not because I don't have lots of 97/99 cards...and I have about 650K Stubs too.
It's because simply going thru my cards and making out a lineup with ONLY my best cards is incredibly childish, boring, and lame to me.
My problem is less with the 99s and more with the fact I have nowhere to go play a 9 inning game where I'm NOT playing an opponent with all 99s.
As for this "big" No Sell controversy...I'm not sure I even care.
If I had to take a side, I'd probably side with the Casuals because in the long run catering to the Streamers and Goons probably isn't good for the game.
I laugh when I see people talk about only playing the game for REWARDS (and the tiny little dopamine hits they get from them!)...because there are lots of us who play the game because we ENJOY it...and enjoy baseball.
The other funny part is seeing SDS make clear moves that benefit THEM in the long run...and will eventually push people to BUY STUBS later in the game cycle...even though a bunch of people said that wasn't the reason for these changes! Hahahahahahaha!
The moves were very clear and maybe now some of you will see it play out. At first, it wasn't as obvious...and that's because SDS doesn't have an issue selling Stubs and keeping that revenue flowing in EARLY in the game cycle in the first few months after the game is released.
But...sales of Stubs gradually decrease over time, especially as we drive in to the summer when people play less video games. And then when fall comes around, SDS has new team building modes from EA and 2K to compete with.
All of SDS's moves were in an effort to INCREASE the revenue from Stub sales later in the game cycle. Especially among their most loyal customers. And every move they've made has been to do so.
Some of us saw this coming and said it out loud...
