Another thing about packs is the "Pack Opening" videos on YouTube are no longer the go-tos for people, I feel like more people are interested in the informative videos like how to beat things like Showdown, Conquests, Mini-Seasons or a program or Moment in general or a good gameplay video... packs are just a bonus for those that know how to earn massive amounts of stubs by playing market and/or being real good at things like Challenge of the Week or can afford to buy stubs... and even then no guarantee that you'll get the top card... I watched tons of YTers pull that 99 Trout but the amount of packs they needed was crazy!
You will find that there are generally 3 types of people that have "pack luck."
-
Streamers - They are basically free advertisement for the game. They don't want a thousand people watching a streamer pull packs to get bronze and common.
-
New players - This is simply to get to players hooked.
-
Really bad players - This is to help them compete.
Regardless of what you think these things are just good for business. If you are unsure, don't fall into any of these categories and see how good your pack luck is. Sure there will be a few outliers but the huge majority that fall into these categories will not have good pulls. I have been a WS player since I first started on PS in 17. My best pull ever was a 70k Sale. I decided to jump over to Xbox to kind of test this out with a new player. I have pulled 5 or so people worth more than 70k. My guess would be if I played on Xbox after making WS this year, my pack luck would again be bad.
This isn't a complaint post, it is simply how the system works which is best for the business that they are trying to make money on.

SDS always pumps out packs for sale the first time they release them. In the past, they put them in every reward path and conquest map a month or two later. If you don't want to buy the specialty packs, wait until they hand them out like candy. I'm going to wait to see if that trend continues before jumping to a conclusion.

Guys I am kinda worried about certain things in this years game.I maybe be exaggerating of course but it seems to me that most of the 99's this year so far are in the packs.
TA Season 2 is 97 again. In the year of 99's day 1 we don't really get a lot of them through grinding.
This all may change but what if Team Affinity's are 97 all year long with XP reward path bosses being 99s
Do we really have to buy packs for 99 Ohtani and Trout ect?
I wasn't really thinking about this before and I need to see their stats but TA 2 being 97 kinda worries me a bit for the future of this game
You can get 99 Ohtani free. Just gotta get lucky.

The issue with TA was in 21 all the best cards were put there SDS admitted this themselves so that's why they took it away and made them featured programs. When TA return they did it in a way that corrected many of the issues TA in 21 had which was to quick to finish and to good of cards.
I am not saying this to defend SDS more of a cause and affect explanation, I do agree that the 99s all seem to be in packs which will be released as rewards later on that's the pattern always. The sets issue may change that but to be fair no one uses early pack cards later in the year anyways.
The number in the corner of the card really means nothing cause there are a tone of 97s and even 95 that I would use over some 99s so to me it doesn't mean much.

streamers dont get boosted packs

I don’t think they get boosted packs but they do spend a boat load of money on them, edit their videos to just the highlights, and then write off thousands of dollars as business expenses. So, boosted? No. Misleading? Yes, for sure.

Can’t believe that micro transactions can be used for a tax deduction. First time I heard this I was like wtf.

"Business expense" for the streamers...no write-off for those who do not make income off streaming.

I have to disagree. The pack luck is exactly what the odds are... the streamers/YT guys that get all those crazy pulls open an insane amount of packs... they are opening 3-5 75 pack bundles and other special packs, sometimes even opening on multiple accounts... its wild and for a time I got sucked into that before seeing how some guys were thriving as "NMS", so I kinda do a hybrid team and only spend when I have the money and/or I REALLY WANT A CARD that is inside of a pack... unfortunately for me I wasn't able to spend on packs when the Alvarez/Baty packs came out.

The whole tax deduction thing is blown out of proportion. At best it means they are basically getting 13-18% off the packs.
You don’t see it much on this game really as most of the pack openings are free packs or just from stubs earned but make no mistake most of the pack opening YouTubers and streamers on 2k and madden are addicted to opening packs as much as they do it for content and get a tax break lol. I’ve been in one bigger 2K YTer streams and he has every card in the game, probably $10k deep in packs for the year and he was actually shaming people to try to get them to give him money to open packs. And it was pretty aggressive. That’s an addict.
-
There's also a FREE Around The World pack in the WBC Program that contains Trout (if you get the Rare Round). I purchased one of those packs during the Flash sale but got the Base round... I forgot who I selected though. All in all "Buy 99" isn't a thing.
-
I really don’t have an issue with the best cards being in packs. It makes sense for a company trying to make money. The programs are just so time consuming they take away from the fun of using the players you want to use. Unless you play all day and night, it is kind of complete programs and play a ton of offline stuff, or not complete programs and play with the guys you want. It is just a change in mindset for myself, because I have always completed programs. I have only completed one division of TA1 and I bet TA2 will be worse for me. I am just buying cards off the market and not worrying if I complete things. I did complete POTM as that was actually a well designed and enjoyable program.

the difference between 97 and 99 in this game is nothing, a 97 with a better swing will always be better than a 99 with a bad one. Card overall does not matter.
Lol you are acting like the dudes with god swings arent 99s and the 97s aren’t meaningless journeymen with boosted stats. Also the difference can be huge. A 97 is a 97. And 99 can be a 99 or like +110 like Chipper lmao. What you even on about. Come play with a team of 97s and see how you get on.
-
This game is just so in depth and strategic!.
The fact they have to juice up cards just to get people to use anything other than the “meta” speaks volumes about the player base.
It’s clear that a lot of the best 99s are actually just 112s…why call them 99s then?
The whole mode has really gone down a very childish path. It’s even more childish than 2K now. At least in 2K there is a little bit of time before the mode goes into the childish endgame part of things. DD does it from day 1.
But…but…but…sets and seasons and core and blah blah blah. Lol. None of it matters….it’s endgame year round now. And those of us who despise endgame nonsense are left with nothing.

Its not madden or 2k.

the irony of saying but.., buttt... [censored].. when you've been on here non stop whining about 99's. At this point the game might not be for you anymore and thats okay, they shook things up this year, i've never been more excited for a new Season to drop. But thats me.

What’s ironic about it, exactly?
That wasn’t irony, bruh…it’s called SARCASM.
The sets, seasons, and all the other BS don’t matter. We don’t need to “wait and see how it goes”. The move to 97/99s everywhere, all year round has alienated lots of DD players and made the mode the lamest and most childish team-building, card collecting mode out there.
What are you excited about exactly?
More 97/99 cards that are basically identical to the ones we already have?
Simpletons, man.

Just not true…do some of you even play 2K? Some of you talk about it with complete ignorance.
First off, 2K didn’t make a game where every team is all 97/99 players within a day of launch.
There’s actually some balance to the game, especially in the early stages. Sure they launched some Pink Diamond cards earlier than usual…but they were hard to attain.
And I’ve won plenty of games of 2K where I had the worse team.
This whole argument that some of you guys post that The Show is the ONLY game where “a good player with a worse team can beat a bad player with a better team” is straight up BALONEY.
I’m a slightly above average 2K player…and I would roll into games with a STRATEGIC mix of lower rated cards that I’d spent time using and learning their shots and moves.
I was also able to use STRATEGY and in game currency to boost those players by adding badges and investing in a coach that fit my play style.
Maybe even add a Dynamic Duo boost as well.
With that team I was then able to jump online and absolutely throttle guys who had better, higher rated cards then me…
In most cases, I was the better player, but sometimes only by a slim margin or we were practically equal. There were also cases where I beat players better than me because of how I built my team, the boosts I had given them(badges, shoes), and how familiar I was with their animations and shot releases.
I’d love for you to tell me how ANY of this is possible in The Show…
How are you going to take a team full of significantly lesser cards and beat someone close to the same skill as you?
The guy who moves his PCI better to the ball is going to win.
It also depends on how big a gap there is in talent of the two players. Obviously a great player is going to beat a terrible player…and acting like that ONLY happens in The Show is complete and utter BS.
We should want a mode where the inverse is actually possible imo.
A mode where the slightly worse player can use STRATEGY on and off the field to win a game vs a better player. That means you have a mode where all these cards and strategies actually MATTER.
Does this game provide that? Not really…
We have players who can’t even be bothered fo strategically put a BATTING ORDER together properly…but they can move the PCI to the ball, so they win.
A mode where the better player always wins is not the perfect mode you think it is. It actually makes all the other parts of the mode completely useless.
