If you play offline like me, always take the first pitch, especially if you have a 90+ speed player on. Most times it's a fastball, or pitch out.
I also look to see a pitchers' fastest pitch, and if he has offspeed pitches. Some times I gamble and go 1st pitch, but that's only if he doesn't have anything over 93mph.

Offline is real easy just lead off once then go any pitch and it’s automatic as long as they have 90+ speed.
Online just lead off and go first pitch if you know your opponent isn’t paying attention to it. If you think he’s paying attention just lead off once or not and see what he does.
Then just wait for a hitters count and steal

That is terrible advice for steals online, and I pick players like that off, regularly.

I have had a lot of success stealing and must be easier this year than last. i haven't been doing anything special. Taking of with 99 speed and hope for the best. I like to steal sometimes in the 4th or more pitch.

Offline, watch a YouTube video. There’s a trick. Some say it doesn’t work anymore. It does about 80% of the time for me. Of course I really only use it with fast runners.

online, you gotta time their delivery, go on a good hitters count and mainly hope you get a breaking ball.

If you can hit you can steal. That extra lead is an excellent way to get picked off tho.

For offline too,cpu will constantly throw over with an extra lead.

    1. check if the catcher has pop time
    2. check catchers arm, if either is above 80 or he has pop time, maybe best to wait for a 2 ball count.
    3. cpu pitcher will never pitch out on a 2 ball count, will rarely or very rarely throw over or slidestep on a 2 ball count.
    4. taking an extra step will almost always induce a throw over regardless of count.
    5. cpu seems to know when you hit that steal button and is ready to counter it.( like you are sitting in front of a mirror at a poker game).see step 3.

Works for me.. of course I’ve gotten picked off but have noticed my opponents so far haven’t paid much attention to it for whatever reason. If I have a dude with 90+ speed I get steals no problem and occasionally picked off

I’ve been doing it constantly and they never throw over. I’m just playing conquest games though but not once do they throw over and it’s very easy to steal on cou in conquest

Bro offline stealing is so easy its a joke... all you have to do is take till you have 2 ball ball count, 2-0 2-1, the pitcher will never pitch out after 2 [censored] and rarely will throw over... ithen once the pitcher comes set hold r2, it will basically freeze the pitcher and take a leadoff with L1 and then steal with L2...Then I count to like 3 or 5 and continue to hold r2 and release when ready. You will literally be safe at second 98.6% of the time as long as you have like 75 speed and over 50 steal. Online it's just a [censored] shoot lol...

    1. Preload using L2/LT w/ a decently speedy runner.
    2. Take a lead with L1, more if the pitcher doesnt look over. If the pitcher throws over— wait till he looks away, hold RT and take a lead.
    3. Dont run on catchers with 99 reaction/arm

Don't run on the first pitch. Don't run on the second pitch either.

I have noticed that 100% of the time I take a lead they throw over. I can't wait for next year since they're always a year behind on rule changes

This is the trick to stealing with any runner over 75 speed against the cpu. You hold R2 while you click L1 to take your lead while the pitcher looks over. You continue to hold R2 then click L2 to trigger the steal. When you release R2 pitcher will always pitch and you will steal the base 98.9 % of the time. I did the SB mission in POTM program in 3 at bats in one conquest game. Also you can exploit this method to beat showdown when you need 1 or 2 runs to beat it.

Ok here is some simple base stealing advice. First things first don’t try and steal with a guy who has 50 speed, that’s obvious. Second look at the base stealing attribute if its high then your jumps will be better. If it’s low than you may want to use user input to generate good jumps. This will however sacrifice your ability to hit the pitch unless you have silly dexterity with your fingers. Third, use the L2 for single runners on base and base button plus L2 for multiple runners on base if you don’t want to double steal. If your jump is terrible or a pitch out then you can always R2 to immediately stop the runner and press R1 to return to previous base. This will work several times with the CPU per game before they get wise to this tactic and throw behind you. This will probably work just once with a human opponent before they start throwing behind you. So you really want the jump to be good hence the base stealing attribute. If they have a good stealing attribute even guys with lower speeds can regularly steal the base.

For online..... go on a pitchers count, 0-2, 1-2. It's almost always a throw in the dirt, unless ranked then yiu need to read your opponent
