Season 2 starts May 12

With the new Season starting next Friday (12th); once could assume that the content drop this Friday (5th) should mean those cards, unless marked as Core cards, will be the last Set 1 cards released?
So once Season 2 is active, even though Season 1 cards can still be used, they probably won't release anymore?

Yes, That is how I take it. Once the next season has started and the new XP program drops everything added the game will be set 2 (or core). There should be no more set 1 cards added, although you can still earn set 1 cards in programs and any older packs they may offer for rewards.

I would assume the Diamond Duo next Tuesday will be set 1, but, yeah, those two will probably be the last.

Seems to be so. Hopeful they make the gaps a little better in set 2. I’m at 201 cards and if they give 10 cards in Friday’s program I would have to spend 1.128m for the 3rd card with nothing back but 7500 stubs and 5k xp and the card. That’s just a tad too much. Especially considering I’m already 815k in. Close to 2 mil in stubs locked I and 40+++ hours of gameplay for a couple of solid 99s and 3 top players good for a couple of month may be hard to sustain.

That's almost exactly where I am. I'm just shy of 200 and I'm looking at the collection and going "yeah, I'm not getting 60 more of these" so I likely won't even be bothered to hit the 230, much less the 260. Just too much cost for too little return, especially for cards with limited time use.
