Was thoroughly enjoying this game and now it seems CPU cannot generate any offense. Settings are competitive, dynamic, legend+, pinpoint pitching, and just played a 5 inning game with Kershaw against the Giants. 10k’s and 4 hits, only 1 hit decently. CPU basically watches 1st pitch strikes and swings and misses at other pitches in the zone. Not a lot of fun when you get 2 runs and the game is basically over. Wish they could leave offline play alone when they’re tweaking settings for DD. Online players seem to think perfect input should result in a perfect accuracy region the size of the baseball. Every year playability gets patched out chasing specific online outcomes and ruins it for casual players who want a competent offline game. Might have to try a slider set, which I really hate doing when the game was so balanced initially.

Ran a couple of tests and practice and think the patch screwed up the way the game was supposed to be played. Pitching wasn’t supposed to be this accurate. There were supposed to be error pitches because no pitcher in the mlb can hit the corner every time. If the cpu runs on something similar to timed hitting it means the cpu knows at higher levels it can’t make contact with breaking [censored] low, or very very rarely. Even human batter don’t make contact on breaking [censored] low down the middle most of the time when using timing or directional hitting.

I ran a practice using zone, directional, and timing using just sinkers, then just curve [censored], then just change ups, bottom part of the strike zone down the middle.

For directional and timing hitting, on all-star a good timed swing made contact 7/8 times. On all-star and legend a good timed swing made contact only 2 out of 8 times.

Now I know hard difficulties should be harder but getting good timing should be harder. The fact that a good timed swing doesn’t even make contact most of the time shows something is off.

CPU ai may know it can’t make contact on these pitches or will only 2 out of 8 times which would explain why there are so many strike outs looking.

This was not the case pre patch on either front and needs to be addressed. Because players who don’t use zone, the game is almost unplayable on legend and hall of fame.

Try the test yourself. Do only breaking pitches in the low in the middle of the zone on those levels using each hitting style and see for yoursef

SDS manipulation at its best. SDS ruined another baseball video game season with their stupid slider tweaks and balloned content.
