My Main “Sets/Seasons” Worry
-
I’ll start by saying that I don’t really mind the mini seasons so to speak. It’s an interesting concept and I love the idea of rebuilding a few times a year. That said, they went a bit too hard too quick.
If we started in the 91-93 range and were currently topping with 95’s, I don’t think people would hate this system as much as they are. Season 2 bringing those 97-99’s.
The biggest issue though: Trout, Turner, Griffey Jr, Sosa, Jeter, Big Mac, Pedro, all headliners, and so on. Have 99s already, I don’t want to just get repeat 99s down the road, simply changing card art.
If we introduce a few more new legends each season, this could be cool. But I think we run out of players to give 99s to rather early in the cycle. This would lead to more being reused.
I imagine future stars will be Season 2, Season 3 being All-Star versions of many players we already have.
This does allow for some players to not have to be used as a wildcard, but it would feel recycled at that point.
We shall see. I like the concept, just a bit too much too quick.

One thing I have noticed from last year which was my 1st year is that there are 99s and then there are 99s that are more like 105s with 99 stamped on the card.

(JK, I agree with you)

Being as there are already 4 Ohtanis, yeah, you're going to have at least 3 99s of a LOT of players.

Outside of Chipper and a few other cards, most of the 99s can be significantly improved upon. But largely I agree - kind of prefer years past of building up to the elite team. As someone who flips, I have all the cards I want already and am enjoying them but usually takes longer to feel that way.

I’m mainly saying, I don’t want or need a WBC Trout, All-Star Trout, and Finest Trout with each one getting a bit better.
I miss the build up. I’m still using henchman often. Dee Strange Gordon will be my lead off man all year.

As a mostly offline player- (although I’m starting to enjoy online more), I feel like we have the luxury of being able to use henchmen and build slowly. But yeah, if you’re competitive Ranked junkie, it might be hard to keep up unless you always gun for the big guys
