30 min cooldown because yall won't fix your game!?!?!

Again, everyone dunks on madden, as well they should, but this is getting annoying. It's been a problem for what.. 4 years?! Why are we still getting losses because we don't want to go to bed for the night with our consoles on?
Wow just tried to play again and I'm being punished for 30 minutes. This is a seriously bs way of handling this problem. It's not our fault you haven't spend a dime trying to fix this issue for the past 4 years.
I'm an adult with children. I might be able to play for a couple hours tonight, and you just took a quarter of that from me because you're incompetent.

Time to upgrade your connection, contact your ISP
-
I also wonder how SDS is supposed to fix individuals connectivity issues. I’ve always wondered that.

Wait, what? In all seriousness, you're blaming every single person that gets caught in a freeze off? How? Imagine playing a 3 v 3 co op game & land in a freeze off...all 6 people are equally liable for this? What if 5 are having issues with their ISP?
Make this make sense for me. If you're wired on fiber 2 GB, with NAT as open as can be, how is that 1 out of 6's fault?
I'm a big SDS supporter & generally think many come down to harsh on a variety of things. 1 thing I'm still struggling to wrap my head around is freeze offs. It seems like an unacceptable outcome (especially with the slap in the face of the cool down timer. That was not the wisest customer service/quality of life improvement. It would have been to address freeze offs, or at least provide input on how to minimize/prevent them.)
-
Turn off Crossplay.

I have turned off crossplay in some of my tests/attempts. 1 of my 4 freezes this year occurred in my VERY FIRST xbox only game. I threw that idea out the window after that.

Maybe you’re not the one that caused it but it’s clear there’s connectivity issues if you’re having multiple freeze offs and I mean when 5 other people are playing shouldn’t there be a penalty for having a bad connection?

Then you also have a connectivity issue. I’ve had almost zero issues with Crossplay off, high speed service and a wired connection.

Wait. They have a penalty for dashboarding now?! That’s awesome.

There’s really not much SDS can do if connections are peer to peer. Best thing we can do as players is be proactive.

I'm chillin....I wasn't angry. The statement just doesn't make sense to me. If anyone wants to address the questions I asked, please do.
As mentioned two or three times already, I've turned off crossplay & experienced one of a handful of freezes in that game.
I always expect to have the strongest connection everytime I go into a game, for the most part. I am wired with verizon fios business speed with hardly and other devices going on.
Anything else anyone has in context to NAT/anything diagnostic related to help out? Otherwise, it seems hasty to enforce a cool down timer for an unavoidable outcome that has sort of plagued us for as long as I remember (considering I've played DD since year 1.)

My curiosity is -- I don't encounter "freezing" when playing other co-op online sports games...The worst experience was always NBA 2K due to truly incredible lag online. Literally unplayable IMO. Not fun. The Show has always been more than fine for me, its just the freezing I'm still so curious about.

ok well take this for a grain of salt here - i am hardwired on a powerline adapter into the PS5 - i am on non fibre speed - we are talking 50 DL / 10 UP = 1995 peasant speed = i have had no freezes since turning crossplay off = who knows but your experience and mine are very different here - our sample sizes are too small to really say for certain what is going on (or not)

For sure! Respect, good sir. I will probably head home tonight & attempt ranked co-op on xbox only and spend some more time that way.
18 out of 20 games I'd say are fine. I much rather encounter freeze offs in Ranked Co-Op as I have no attachment to my record (although planning to play until reaching W.S.) -- but for years I didn't encounter many freeze offs on Ranked Solo.
The one thing for anyone blaming anyone else (IMO) is that you can't control your opponents connection. But that's obvious. That sort of leaves you open to a freeze-off regardless, no?

Yea I agree with the last paragraph it’s weird to implement that in coop when 6 people are connecting to each other

They didn't implement the Cool Down period to help counter freeze offs. It was implemented because people complained that other people were quitting Co-Op games last year and when that person quit; the game would end.
So SDS decided to implement a counter to people quitting Co-Op games by implementing a college down period for the person who quits.
What they (SDS) didn't consider is how to distinguish a quit from an ACTIVE game and a person dashboarding, as that's the only way, to leave a freeze off.
So now when the Ranked Co-Op game freezes; the person that decides to dashboard because they don't want to sit in a freeze off also gets hit with a cool down penalty.
It (Cool Down Penalty) was a good move by SDS; but was not throughly tested, as with other aspects of the game, before release.
They just need to go in and delete the Cool Down code from the game. It's broken.
And if it is ever implemented into regular Ranked, BR, or Events; people will just wait it out for the other person to quit.
What they need to figure out how to code is if there is a set timeframe, during an online game where nothing happens, the game itself just ends and doesn't declare anyone the winner or loser.

Another freeze. Now my punishment is 60 minutes. My bad my friend is on Xbox, I don't see how that is my fault.
This needs to be fixed
