They didn’t take him out of the game but for some reason, he got removed from your active squad. Happened to me during a Cobquest game. Kept getting a “you need 6 relievers” type message.

When I looked, he was gone and a blank Oriole card was in its place.

If I’m not mistaken, my MAIN lineup was also altered to be the CPU generated lineup.
