MLB The Show 23 Worth Getting?
-
I already have 22. On the fence about upgrading to 23. Enough notable changes and improvements from 22 to recommend buying 23?
I heard some of the new rules, like the pitch clock, aren't in the new game?

ive played since 2000's - this is a very good year for a number of reasons - 2016 / 2017 / 2023 feel best for me - the years in between had tons of issues and the only thing worthy in that frame was the conquest extreme - very rewarding to beat that

I am disappointed in the announcers. They said it's been "improved"? Same tired old repetitive script over and over..."No batting gloves?"...I wish they would bring back the option under the sound menu...where you could keep the play by play but shut off the "color" commentary. They had it in one of the older games, maybe 2020?

The rules that matter are in.
Fast play is already faster than pitch clock, and if you did non DD with hybrid or broadcast you can skip all those in between pitch scenes,so pitch clock wouldn't actually do anything but make the game slower.
Bigger bases only real benefit is injury prevention irl, they aren't going to notice 3 less inches when running and in game we wouldn't either.
As for the step off/ throw over one, RL will benefit from that this game plays fine without it. -
I've played since 2019. This is the best version of The Show I have played. At least to this point. Gameplay is great. The hitting changes are amazing and really feel like real baseball.

oh my dear.... i hear you - absolutely annoying i must turn this off before gaming today thanks for reminding me

Honestly pretty bummed at how many players don’t have face scans. Michael Harris doesn’t even have one and he was ROTY
-
Is the best MLB console game on the market. The animation, sound, variety is unmatched. The presentation is top-shelf. My wife walked in a couple days ago while I was playing and thought it was opening day and I was watching a game. That realistic!
However, if you are considering buying it to enjoy some consistently competitive gameplay..you won't get it. The emphasis on consistent, for whatever reason the AI likes to dictates outcomes and the truly competitive gamer despises such things.

21 is the best for RTTS. Different announcers, abundant last names. 23 is a dollar disappointment.

They might have gotten them in spring training and it will be in a roster update,
that is usually how they do it. -

Ha. I was wonder if something like that is secretly going on. And it's not just in The Show. I've noticed it in other sports games too! I almost always pull off the win in a super tight one.
It started making me question if I'm really that good in crunch time or if the AI is programmed to let me win if it gets that close?

You likely focus more near the end of games and play better. Plus, the better player usually wins in this game. USUALLY, lol

Let's hope so. I'm competitive AF! So while a win always feels good, I'd be annoyed to know a computer was letting me win.

I’m having issues with Franchise mode, but that seems to be the only mode that is having bugs. The PS4 version kept crashing on me in franchise, so I bit the bullet and got a PS5. VERY noticeable difference and it’s been great gameplay, but it cannot load my franchise. I played 3 games, saved, and now when I try to load it, I get kicked back to the main menu. Every. Single. Time.

same thing ive read and heard... i wish they would do commentary like in NBA 2k where you have multiple announcers etc, guest commentators. Even on the ps3 for FIFA 10-13 they had commentary packs, english, spanish, italian, etc and i think 3 different types of english commentary. That would be nice.... more guests, players of the week, etc, all stars commentary, etc..... really wanna see more animations at home plate, and 1st base... i wanna see catchers taking a foul tip and come out the game or look shaken up, like in real life.
