I think content is going to be a FAT W. Looking back on the past few years, I'm excited to kind of skip the grind for lower tier cards. It's like having end game cards all year and you get a 75% card reset each season.
It's like we're getting 3 different mini content cycles but the core cards provide a % of consistency. Wish we had a wild card slot for pitcher AND hitter. Maybe they'll add that.
-
The Twitter video today listed Sammy and McGwire as core cards. It'll be interesting to see the number of cards that'll be labeled as such.
With McGwire listed as an As player and Sammy a Cub, I imagine both cards will be the Live Series League collection rewards.

I am still not a fan of planned obsolescence. They could prove me wrong of course.
I just look at, for example, the Cardinal players I can get early (97, two 95's, a 92 and a 90) and wonder if come July 8th I will need to fall back to my live series versions of those players, which of course probably did not benefit from me having a captain because I was using the Set 1 versions of those players instead of the live versions.
If you are someone who finishes the collections every year, completes every program and ends up with almost every card in the game then i don't think it will be as big a deal to you as it may be for those of us who spend less time. I don't mind putting in the time for players that I really want but don't relish the idea of the cards I decide to concentrate on obtaining becoming obsolete.
I guess we will all find out.

I get what you are saying and my first thought was that we will get a massive bundle of set 2 and set 3 cards that outweigh set 1 but that would sort of defeat the purpose of rolling back set 1 as it would have happened organically (I.e.- I’ll use my 97 All Star Arenado card over my 95 Arenado WBC anyway).
But if this massive content drop is a sign of things to come, we will always have more than enough great cards to use.
Like you said- we shall see.

But what if, god forbid, Arenado gets hurt or does not make the all-star team aand there is not a better Arenado card come the second week in July?
I will continue to say it. Me deciding a player on my squad is obsolete is far, far different and much more palatable than SDS telling me that players on my squad are obsolete.
I pity anyone who might have to take a few months off for any reason. They could come back and find that their only option to advance are live series cards because they missed 2 seasons and don't have valid cards beyond core players.

I think it's a valid concern which I think os coupled with the question of how content is rolled out. DAY 1 we known is crazy but what happens after that will it be big waves every couple weeks? Will it be a huge drop each season and set?
There are still alot of unknowns hopefully they have a plan in place where if a big star player like a Judge or Vlad Jr go down for an extend period they will get them in the game as some of their set 1 cards go out.
I am pretty positive in nature and am looking at this as a new experience and just going with the flow but I'm not naive to not have a concern like yours were I don't want to lose my favorite teams players later in the game because they get hurt or is the bed this season

I have been accused, multiple times, of being a shill for the game because I usually find the positive.
But, I think this shows that my faith in SDS is not blind. I still remember '18 and the immortals where I quickly realized that the mode that year was created for the hardest of the hardcore players and not for me. I quit that one after only 1 month.

Concerning your last paragraph:
It would be in their best interest after whatever Season, be it 3 or if there is a 4th, is the final season; that ALL cards will be usable. Yes, you may have to wait awhile to reuse Set 1 cards; but if they don't allow that later in the game's cycle, its going to screw people that buy the game late.
Also, hopefully in the stream tomorrow they'll say whether or not previous Sets can still be used in ALL offline modes.

They already stated that other then timed conquest maps for that season and the new themed season mini season that offline will have no restrictions for sets and seasons.

But aren't timed Conquests basically every conquest map except the US Map and maybe a repeatable one? Who wants to run those over and over post all-star game.

I feel attacked by this comment lol
Will be interesting to see what the do for conquest cause it's needs a bit of a shake up

Yes. I know. I meant that after Set 3 is over, if there isn't a Set 4, they may have all Set cards become playable or anyone that buys the game after the All Star Break or Post Season won't be able to utilize those cards. Heck, they may not even be able to obtain them.
I doubt SDS goes that route.

Gonna be so nice to not have to see content creators try to hype up the most mid cards they put out in the early stages of the game
