Load up on the Rookie/Vet/AS/BO cards and just grind it out.
Thank you. I just figured you had to go 12-0 or some batch of biscuits..
I’ll look into it when turn the game on.

How does a .125 hitting card hustler like me acquire such a beast?
I have a 1,000,000 but order in at #1885….Do I have to win at BR to get him??
If so, I may be all a dream…
No. Go for the points in BR. Look at the missions and draft the players that will help you complete the missions. After you get 100 points, you'll get the card of your choosing. Along the way, you'll get a lot of cards to complete the collections.
I have a spreadsheet that will help you organize your drafts if you want to use it.
It will take a lot of losses, at least it did for me, but that doesn't matter. You just need to complete the missions. The repeatable missions saved me.
Same with the 1m stub cards in RS. Just go for the points to get those rewind packs.
-
I, too, wish I could acquire such a card. I’ve only reached a million stubs once, and funny enough it happened the first time I played on ‘All-Star’ (or whatever is after ‘Veteran’), and hadn’t the foggiest that it was due to my 2mil XP! I got so pissed at myself - I was like, “you big dummy, all those games only getting 1500 stubs or less when I could’ve been making a million each game!” - you can imagine my chagrin when, after losing the next 10-15 matches (sadly, all against the cpu), I was finally able to win again on ‘All-Star’, but no moolah. I’ve only played one match ever online and couldn’t even get a hit with my first 8 batters and figured my odds were just as good with Lee Smith (who was my pitcher) as they were with Mickey Mantle (whom I don’t have yet, either) so I let him hit and wouldn’t you know it, he beats out an infield single and I believe it broke the game, because for the next ten min the screen was stuck with Smith standing at first as he alternated shifting his weight from one foot to the other, then hands on knees, etc. Finally, instead of snapping out of this glitch, the game simply ended…It was bottom of final inning, I was losing 1-0 and my best bat was coming up with Smith on first…I was really looking forward to the AB but never got it. To beat all, I was given credit for a victory! What’s THAT all about? I never tried it again due to how terrible I was, swinging at everything that was pitched until, during one of my opponents many (and painfully long) game pauses, I looked back and realized I had yet to be pitched a single, solitary ball that was in the strike zone! So, with Lee Smith he quickly went to a 3-0 count, with his single coming on 3-1. His PCI was so tiny I couldn’t believe I hit it…I felt like it was either mercy from the opponent OR SDS, neither of which am I ok with, were it the case. I say all of this to underline the point that I don’t think I’ll ever get that Trout card either, and have managed to get just about all the cards collected having never worked the market (other than selling dupes from packs) and having only played one game online…however there are still some I would really like to have, but ALL of these are over 500k stubs, something I can’t imagine ever being able to accumulate.
My question is this: are y’all saying that if one played online (what does BR stand for anyways?), that there are avenues to these cards WITHOUT having to purchase them? Or is it that by competing online you get so many more stubs per win that the cards would then become much easier to purchase? There are cards that seem to allow no avenue for purchase via marketplace and I assume that just like the cards you earn collecting xp in a specific Program, that perhaps it’s the same with the online play? Could anyone let me know which events are the best and have good rewards? Please - I would greatly appreciate it! Also, is ‘moonshot’ a home run derby where you get cards as well? -
Thank you playa!! BR is something I haven’t taken an in depth look to see how it works.
At this time, I’d like to make my own trial and error list. thank you for the offer.

I didn't read your whole post, it sounded like a rant, so I skipped to this part.
The answer is yes. Both Battle Royale (BR) and Ranked Seasons (RS) have paths to get the packs without having win streaks. Go for the points and complete the missions.
-
BR....Battle Royale
Br has a program to get all the top $1M cards and you don't have to go 12-0 to get them. Pony up $1500 stubs. Look at the missions for Rookie, All Star, Veteran and I think Breakout. Draft them and just do stats with them to get points. Once you get 100 points you can pick your guy. It took me about 10 entries so essentially I paid $15K stubs to get Trout by playing instead of getting in line and waiting to pay $1M stubs for him. It can be done. If I can do it everyone else can.

Aw, man, go back and read what I wrote, please? It wasn’t a rant at all, but it was a story of my one game online. If you think it’s a rant then I’ll edit it out because, while long-winded, I try to keep my posts self-deprecating, with truth, and with no agenda whatsoever, and if I rant, it’s to my wife. Will you do me this favor? I also want to thank you for your answer

Thank you. You don't have to win per se but you do need to earn stats with those cards mentioned to get the points. Winning does help but its absolutely not necessary. In any event you won't have to spend $1M. Even if it took you say 33 entries to complete the mission stats, it would only cost you $50K for Trout versus $1M

I am not a fan of online play. I’m not very good. BR is a perfect way to dip your toe in and get not only Trout but many of the other cards that are hard to buy now. And it’ll prep you for 23 if you plan to play.

He’s a good dude this is the truth. @TEXAS10PT_PSN, I’m glad you’ve gotten on the BR train.
The missions are where it’s at and it’s a great way to try cards out, PXP cards you already have and improve at online because you’re facing silver and Gold pitchers for the most part.
I learned a pretty effective draft strategy and am happy to share. Also, do no worry about the draft fee. I sometimes will redraft 3 or 4 times in a row to get the cards I want. Stubs are borderline irrelevant at this point and one trip through BR is worth about 2.5 million stubs including Trout.

More incredible info! Out of curiosity, what do you mean by “redraft”, I thought I was stuck with the 4 players to choose from? I wonder if this is possible during “Showdown” mode as well? There are several nice cards that I’m so very close to getting if I could just win these stinking showdowns!

Every time you draft in BR it costs 1,500 stubs. At this stage in the game, most of us have endless stubs or close to it, so if you don’t like the players you drafted (I.e. you want specific types of cards to complete missions), you can just forfeit and redraft. I don’t recommend this at the beginning of 23 when stubs are at more of a premium but once the flood gates open and you have a ton, don’t be afraid to spend. As @TEXAS10PT_PSN ’mentioned, Trout alone is worth 1 million stubs. But with all the other rewards you get along the path- it is equal to about 2.5 million stubs. So redraft at will. You’ll get it all back plus much more.

If you look there are specific player missions for bronze, silver and gold. Your 2nd, 3rd, and 4th picks will always be those cards. So when you finish a specific player, draft someone else. And the. The series missions (500 PxP with Veteran cards) pitchers obviously get there faster but getting as many as you can definitely helps. Good luck. Personally I use all my diamonds and golds on offense, and my bullpen I fill with silvers and bronzes. Starting pitchers can be your bronze and commons..

@TEXAS10PT_PSN and @Ericulous1_PSN :
I cannot thank you fellas enough for sharing your wisdom with me today. This is the kind of info that I’ve so desperately needed these last several months! Wanna hear something else ridiculous? I pitched EVERY game with my created pitcher for 5 seasons in RTTS before I accidentally figured out that one could skip this while still improving your player! I’m still afraid to touch the sliders but I’ve considered it to see if I can get my created pitcher to get as many strikeouts during SIM as I do against the hapless cpu when I’m pitching haha!
I’m about to start my first BR right now, and it’s like it was the first time I played! All new and thrilling - I have all of y’all to thank for this. I’m serious - I’m a real life person who you guys have helped today and my gratitude is also very real and true - this is what it’s all about if you ask me..
