In regards to the CPU frequently dotting up pitches and making superman diving plays with bronze/common players multiple times a game even on lower difficulties do you think it’s done to balance out gameplay or simply a broken mechanic?
-
The CPU players, and my players, frequently knock the ball away from them when diving. Sometimes even the opposite way they are diving. I think MLB players make those plays more often than in game.
-
I think it is a conflict in the program, the protocol would be to field the ball, there are program in that limit the cpu from executing everything flawlessly especially with lower quality players, but sometimes it focuses on the mandate to field the ball and with the lesser attributes it has to make up for the deficiency, which is kinda why you dont see it as often with better players.
Its just the cpu processing the instructions. -
They broke it this year. It's their programming that's doing it, meaning it's "working as intended".

Anybody have a CPU team that always plays up to them? I always do terrible against the O's no matter the difficulty.
-
Astros.
Was actually going to start a thread asking this very question.
The Astros I always play on Rookie in conquest just to have a relatively easy chance. Anything above that and for some reason I always have a difficult time with them. -

I mean technically the CPU knows every pitch you're going to throw lol

I’ve noticed that, too. They run on pitches a lot. Successfully, too.

I can handle the dives.
But the CPU Ss gets the ball out of his glove too easy.
I do not have enough if hits with 99 speed runners. -

When you steal does the cpu fielders shout out runner or he going almost before your first step? but then when the cpu steals the screen changes and you are like huh? cause if you didnt see him take off thats your first clue.
My fielders call out once every 10-15 attempts or so. -

Got no problem with any of it except the obvious stink to high heaven you aint winning this one no matter what script.
-
The only thing that I get mad at is, legitimately every single time I try to steal a base, they 1) attempt to pick me off at first, or 2) pitch out and nail me at second. It is so annoying.

I bought the game about two months ago. Generally face CPU in rookie and veteran. The CPU does make some crazy defensive plays, even in foul territory. They also never let you steal and almost pitch out on each attempt. They catch me a lot on base running mistakes on ground balls. I have recorded some videos where their infielders dive for balls and throw strikes to first. Incredible.
The only thing that is different is the PCI is slightly smaller. And the amount of times the CPU pitcher will throw in the strike zone.
But I've been practicing in all star mode, hoping to get there.
Now it's different play in mini seasons vs 90+ rated players than vs regular MLB rosters.

I'm convinced 70% of the people that play this game doesn't realize there is a slider setting.

against the cpu, steal on 2 ball counts the cpu never does a pitch out and rarely slide steps. this is imperative with a catcher that has pop time.

Thanks, I've had enough of Jt Realmuto getting the ball to second base by the time im halfway there.

Adjusting sliders can affect your Re_wards JJ LOL

I am playing on the 20 season, and Wagner, speed 99 did exactly like you said, and he got a great jump, and exactly 2 steps into his attempted steal began running in super slow motion while the catcher continued in normal time and he was out by such a large margin it was laughable.
Yet I then ran on a different pitch count with 83 speed Sandberg and he was already 3/4 of the way there before the throw passed the pitchers mound.
Think I will keep doing it my way. Not griping at all, but I don't run a lot because I am such a weak hitter and can't afford to throw away outs on the base paths.
