Question about legends of the franchise
-
Obviously from what we’ve seen these cards are absolutely cracked….is there something off with quirks or anything like that where you may want to consider others? From an attribute standpoint a card like Edgar Martinez is absolute end game…but are the quirks and stuff there like they are other card series? I am clueless hence why I’m asking
-
Legends don't have active hitting quirks. You might see outlier on some pitchers and pop time on pudge but they are irrelevant on all these other cards
-
The original FOTF cards had their Live Series quirks which included active quirks. Legends don't have active quirks unless you consider outlier on a pitcher. I can see these guys being very comparable to other high end cards at similar positions but they will all have a flaw. It might be speed, defense, vision, or maybe weird splits. Still usable fun cards but I don't see any of them being meta. Posada looks great and should get some run on my squad but it might be hard working in some of the other positions with log jams already in the OF, 3rd and 1st. Starting pitching is already loaded also. My one position I could use some depth is RPs but I dont think they have revealed any of those.

I'm curious why they would all have a flaw. I'm still relatively new and primarily play offline so most of the features that make one card better than another aren't as noticeable ( if at all). But are you saying that only active players can be end game because they have active quirks? Or what is it about these cards that would be flawed?

I see a card like retro finest Clemente and see absolutely zero flaws. Will people not use him because he doesn’t have active quirks?

Well and look at George Brett, Randy, Nolan...all end game. I get that active quirks are nice but I bet there are several useable cards in this program. Look how everyone reacted when they revealed attributes for Shawn Green and Posada. I bet Morgan, Hank, Pudge, Fielder etc are end game.

Assuming most are playing Mookie at 2nd, the only outfielder that even has active quirks that alot of people play in the outfield is Soto. People won't use Clemente because they like other outfielder better. The only 5 cards I see regularly used that have active quirks are Mookie, Soto, Riley, and Devers&Yordan as pinch hitters

They wont necessarily have a flaw but I feel like SDS has taken steps to ensure certain cards are not top tier or atleast top tier yet. Best example I can give is one of my favorites Oneil Cruz. His cards is absolutely filthly but they lowered his vision which if you play high RS he is probably not usable. SOmetimes its the player themself.
The new Posada is amazing hitting but his defense is a bit low and of course he is slow just like he was irl. For offline most of these guys will be fine. But just like in real life I always strive to have 5 tool players. Last year these were easy to come by. They gave away guys like Mantle with max stats or AS Acuna in July who was practically end game. However, this year they seem to nerf a stat or two just to keep you constantly looking for an upgrade.
In terms of active quirks they don't make a huge difference but if stats are similar then the clear edge goes to the guys with active quirks. Those MA guys are amazing because they have stats and active quirks, same with guys like HRD Juan Soto. HRD JoRam is still one of my favorite cards and imo his active quirks are what supplement some of his lacking attributes. -

This is true right here, but Devers and Yordan are still relevant months later because imo they have active quirks. Look at Devers, his stats are not even close to Brett's but Devers just rakes. For me he gives Brett a run for his money. Which make no sense because of the attribute difference between the two.

This year has definitely been a slow drip versus the gushing of last year but then again, we're getting multiple 99s for many of the big names as is now evident by Clemente (and pretty obvious with the Griffey release).

The flaw in every card in MLBTS is one thing. Me, the user.
