How is SDS planning to keep new players when Rookie difficulty is so broken! I have been playing The Show for a long time and I swear it's easier to hit on All-Star than on Rookie. I have a very good squad and I tried to grind some stats on Rookie and it's impossible. The defence are making superman like catches, I am squaring up perfect-perfect pop ups with players that have over 120 power! I am hitting perfect-perfect foul balls! It is an absolute disgrace!

How does SDS seriously think they will entice new players to keep playing when their first experience on Rookie difficulty will be so a sh!t-show? Honestly, if I picked up the game today for the first time and played a game on rookie, I would throw it in the garbage!

I don't know why you are having issues. I play on rookie when I am grinding PXP and have had some great games.

Here is one of the more recent ones when I was grinding for the Griffey program. 25 hits and 20 runs and pitched a complete game 1 hitter.

Do I always do that well? No. But more often than not I do fine. I am someone who only plays offline and almost never above Veteran difficulty so if I can do it then all the better players than me should also be able to do it.

So what you're saying is that since they fixed it so people can't abuse the CPU on rookie and actually have to earn PXP; it's a bad thing?

Wait did I miss a change? Did they patch something? I don't always keep up with all the patches.

No. They didn't patch anything. What I meant is that in years past you used to be able to play a Play vs CPU game against Colorado, on Rookie, and CONSTANTLY score 30-50 runs a game.

They made the AI a little smarter this year because it was getting abused.

Same for how they stopped people from aging a CPU game and restarting the game without leaving multiple times to boost XP.

Same with how you used to be able to SIM a RTTS game and have the computer score 100+ runs.

Same with how you have to have at least 8 ABs before you quit or you won't get any PXP as people used to just 'hit and quit' with one or two batters.

The difficulty settings in this game are meaningless. Rookie in mini-seasons is harder than veteran in conquest. Rookie on Showdown and moments feels scripted to me. It feels scripted because you can square up balls for out after out and then other times you can hit no doubters off of bad contact in moments and Showdown. One of my few issues with the game I wish they would fix is the making the difficulty levels equal in all modes. If grinding pxp too easily on rookie is the issue, then make us play a harder difficulty. The up and down difficulties across all the different modes in DD is maddening. It shouldn't be that way... I can hit great on hof in practice and then blowout the cpu in conquest on All-Star, and the same night struggle in Showdown on rookie makes no sense.

This could be explained pretty easily if you look at the rosters of the opposing team. There isn't a huge difference between rookie and veteran to begin with, so of course going up against a good team in mini seasons will be more challenging than mostly bronze and silver live series cards in conquest. Did you expect 99 Randy Johnson on rookie to be easier to face than 74 Shane Baz on veteran?

This is definitely not representative of my experience. I play mostly offline and like to play on Veteran or Allstar most of the time, unless I am grinding PXP as others have stated. When I switch over to Rookie, I rack up crazy stats most of the time. I do think that rookie on Mini seasons seems harder than Rookie on Conquests or play vs CPU. But I think that is attributed to playing teams such as the Whales or Cats which are stacked. Also, in Conquest or Play vs CPU, if you start your 4th or 5th pitcher, they do as well. So, you are hitting against weak pitchers in most cases. Mini Seasons doesn't work this way.

No... I feel like there is definitely a difference in difficulty in mini-seasons at times. If I'm grinding for PXP I always play on veteran when I have a choice in difficulty. In mini-season though it seems like every few games regardless of which team I'm facing there will be a bump in difficulty because I can go from beating the cats back to back easily to having a sweaty game just trying to beat a middle road team. I can win on conquest easily scoring 5-10 runs 30 out of 31 games, no matter who I have in my lineup, but rarely can win 10 straight in mini-seasons with my best squad. You can feel the swing in Showdown too on rookie I can have squared up balls in a single boss battle for routine outs on rookie and sometimes barely beat them, but those same squared up balls in conquest are usually bombs. I get that facing Randy and a silver should be a big difference in success rate, but I am taking that into account with my opinion on the difficulty. I usually play aces or at top 3 in conquest because I don't like facing the bronze guys that don't throw strikes because it takes longer. I play all the different modes and just believe the difficulties are inconsistent for sure. Do you think they are equal through all modes 100% of the time? The most frustrating one for me is showdown... it says rookie, but at times it's a lot
harder to hit than veteran ever is. I think rookie should be easy for a rookie, so a perfect squared up fly ball with a good hitter should be a moon shot on rookie. I'm not even complaining because I get through everything against the cpu.but I just think the difficulties should be consistent and would have no issue grinding on higher difficulties to achieve that consistency.

The mini season games being harder on Rookie is due to the fact that you are playing against better teams than during conquest.

I think it's a 'flip of the coin' scenario.

I played the Conquest map last night and score way more runs playing a team in Veteran and All Star than I did on Rookie.
