If its optional, sure. But I much prefer challenge over a 3 week PXP grind
That would be my guess (optional). Like if you want the reward now, you have to do moments et al, but you could also grind whatever and get it at some point. They really don’t have much goodwill left to squander with the community after the Griffey mistake and the “as intended” line and a card that like 5% of players can get would go a long way to alienate everyone else.

I would like that. But I definitely hope there are both options so those of you who want the hard moments and missions can do that. Personally, I would rather try moments, showdowns etc but would probably have to fall back on the grind.
And if that's not an option and I'm limited by my skill, that's life. I mean I never did get Alomar.
I think I'm one of the few who really like the PXP grind as my favorite part of the game is building different rosters and using them to build stats. For instance, when the first Monthly came around I didn't do so hot with Ty France who I like using and was bummed. But I broke him out for the Griffey missions and he hit like 3 or 4 of the Homeruns I needed.
Plus, I like some programs to take longer than a day. That's why I miss TA.

I think that is more of an individual thing. I have made plenty of programs that came out this year last as I haven't been in a rush to finish.
I also know lots (me included) who could finish TA in a day last year.

I’m with you, I would like both options. As an average-skilled player, I would love to try to earn them; however, if that fails, I wouldn’t mind the longer grind. I think I only got to Yelich on the last one. Really wanted Gehrig, but as the Chairman of the Board said, “That’s Life.”
I also miss TA, but many players did the trade-ins to get it done quickly. I admit to using it for a few teams. I liked the conquest and showdowns that went with it on the last one.

We had “extreme” grinds in 2018. (And 2020 if you want to label the red diamonds as such.) I didn’t mind (especially given the rewards we were able to earn), but I distinctly remember being in the minority.

You're right because I definitely let the TAs last a while last year but my buddy raced through them using all the exchanges, doing multiple showdowns etc.
This year there are definitely l programs that can take a while like the monthly programs.

2021 was my first year and TA was what really got me into the game. I didn't really know what I was doing do I fumbled around doing moments, buying packs, trying showdowns and almost gave up after a few weeks. Then I decided to watch a few streamers show how to do TA when the second season dropped and I never looked back. I ended up getting everything offline 100% last year and collected every card......EXCEPT ROBBIE FRIGGIN ALOMAR!!!!! I even completed BR a few times despite not being very good.
Then I took a look at 2020 to see what TA was like and it was huge!!!! A reward path for every team. Man I'd love to do that.
