Here’s what I think about the July POTM cards
-
I’m sure I’ll get a lot of people who disagree with me but here’s my thoughts.
All the cards are actually pretty useable from this program. I think for the 95 overalls Jose Miranda has a great swing,Cole Irvin with his 115 Bb/9 is awesome. He can dot pitches anywhere Andres Munoz is lik3 a better version of Edwin Diaz. The only reason I say that is because he throws the same pitches as Diaz but he has outlier and 100 BB/9.
Now for the the 97 cards Chapman and Pressly are pretty decent but Matt Carpenter is on a whole other level. This is where I’m probably I’m going catch some hate but I think Carpenter is the best card in the program. On paper Austin Riley looks like he could easily be way better than every third baseman other than George Brett but there’s something about his swing I’m not crazy about. I have about 100 at bats with him and I’m not saying he’s bad but it’s not clicking right away like it did with Devers. I did hit a 473 foot grand slam with Riley that looked like he didn’t even get all of it. That was crazy. I hate to even say it but I think Devers might still be better than Austin Riley at third. Good thing for Austin though is he has good enough speed to play a pretty good left field. I know in a couple weeks I might have a totally different opinion about Riley and think hes god tier. We will see.
With all that being said I think Matt Carpenter is the best card in the program and might be a top 3 first baseman in the game.
What’s your thoughts? Am I crazy?
-
Oh I forgot to mention Craig Biggio. He’s awesome. Zero flaws. Easily a top 3 catcher and second baseman.
-
Wow! Didn’t want to start a new thread, but I just got robbed on the James Outman moment. Dude, smoked his second double of the game in the 9th. Was literally standing on second when the runner was thrown out at the plate. Game only gave me a single. Wow.
-
Wow. It just happened again. He smoked a double, is standing on second clapping. Runner thrown out at home. Single.
Cost me another try at this moment. Unbelievable.

I hate when there’s one moment that I get hung up on. I had a little trouble on the Trey Mancini moment. I smoked a ball on the very first try and it hit the top of the fence. Then I failed like 10 times after that lol
-
I am not a fan of moments of any kind in this game. We are typically set up to fail in them. Not set up for success.
Example, in the Toronto one where we had to score two runs (because they scored 28), SDS had that particular box score. So, create a team of blue jays based on that boxscore.
As it was, it was just a typical blue jay lineup. Nothing special ( like that game obviously was).
Took me 7 innings to get those two runs. Not necessary.

I don't disagree at all, this Carpenter is a beast. I think i may be up to 20+ home runs with him already. Riley and the others are fun but there not automatic like Carpenter.

Lol I know what you mean. Moments and showdown the defense makes the craziest catches I’ve ever seen. Dive from right field all way to left and make the catch while holding a drink in the other hand. Lol
-
Fwiw, I’m up to 15 tries on the Mancini moment. Again, just not necessary.

20 already??? Ok man I see you! I have 14 in 94 at bats but he’s also hitting .447. Carpenter is so insane . That swing is money

20 Hrs, 25 RBI's (i'm batting him 5th behind Soto, Realmuto and Julio Rodriguez so thats why no one is ever on for him lol) and batting 500, now of course thats against the CPU but this card is a machine.

Okkkk. Crushing. It. That’s crazy u bat him right after Soto. My lineup is Biggio,Julio,Riley,Soto,Carpenter. I’m about to put Carp 3rd in the lineup and put Riley batting 5th is he doesn’t start heating up.

The TN Seth Beer moment this year was horrible for me. No idea why but I'd say about 30 tries.

Do you remember when the old announcers used to call him “the sweet swinging Matt Carpenter” when he came up to bat? I don’t have this card yet, but love his swing and am excited to get it and use his card.
