It was far more rewarding than zone and that is ridiculous lol

if you have patience at the plate you’ll smoke a majority of the pitches inside the zone. This might not be as rewarding on HOF or Legend but for events/BR its the way to go. Just be patient and contact swing or regular swing and enjoy the cheese lol

Zone hitting feels off this year, perfectly hit balls with almost perfect pci placement are outs a majority of the time… so just eliminate any chance you have of making a mistake with the pci and use timing.

Kinda sucks that a brain dead mechanic like timing hitting is on par with one that requires some skill

I’ve thought about trying it, but I was hoping to find the opposite of what you are stating. This sucks that it is more rewarding. Whenever I suspect someone is using it, I pitch more balls and high and in fb. Did you find that it is hard to square up fb up and in using timing?

If you’re patient and lay off the borderline high and low pitches you’ll be successful. With the increased error using pinpoint lots of pitches end up in the zone. Fastballs up and in have given me mixed results but that’s pretty much what zone has been for me this year too.. so just let the RNG run it’s course lol

Will test this tonight. It makes sense now that hitters with .200 avg and very bad records are hitting so well

Most of the players pitch the same way and that helps with timing the hits… if the pitch is low it’s usually off speed so I try to wait I get tons of ground balls, if the pitch looks like it’s a low sinker I’ve had success using contact swing… contact swing is broken just like the beginning of last years game lol

I’m all about having multiple options to play the game but there should be restrictions on head to head settings.

No restrictions but it would be cool if you could filter settings for online play

I took a lot of time to become a decent zone hitter last year-- the theory being higher risk/skill for higher reward.
But I am totally not seeing the reward aspect this year.
And if what you say is true, why would you use anything BUT timing or directional before Championship Series?

I agree that using timing with a single button approach is a bit easy, but that isn't the only way to use timing... I use it with analog stride inputs, so you need to time your stride, the pitch, and pick the third of the plate to cover (inside, middle, or outside by moving the right stick in that direction). That way, it isn't that easy...

That's unfortunate. Thanks for testing. I'm sticking with zone 100 percent I like the challenge.

I like the challenge too, it’s just annoying when you do everything right and you end up with a lazy fly ball… I get that people want a realistic game and there is a lot of failure in baseball… At the end of the day this is a GAME the player should be rewarded for being good at the GAME

Last year was my first year playing The Show and I didn’t know anything about baseball… I dove right into DD took my lumps learned how to use zone hitting and eventually made it to 840 RS… Timing hitting was added to the game for casual players to just turn on the game and compete with players who have put in the work to actually become decent at the game and that ruins it for me… but if you can’t beat ‘em, join em lol

I'll forgive you because you're new to the game, but timing is older than zone hitting. Last year it was called "analog". This year, they gave us the option to hit the button instead of using the analog stick, mostly because some people have disabilities with their hands, and hitting the button is easier for them.
