Can't beat Glavine....Showdown
-
Oh man, I cannot pass through Glavine. I had 6 outs and the winning run on 3rd and somehow made a running error on a shallow fly ball that the superman D always catches. It dropped, I got a late jump, tried to get back and was picked off 3rd. Oy, any tips other than git gud? That circle change is abusive.

I hear if you chant Glavine 5 times into the mirror, he comes in and puts a little dot in the middle.
No but really, just like with any showdown, running up counts is key, and sit on offspeed with him

You mean the change up that is a better curve than an actual curveball?
I tried the showdown 4 times, 1st one Hand got me, mostly on the break and adjusting to rookie pitch speeds.2nd attempt got to Wilson(quite easily) but the slider/ cutter against mostly righties did me in.3rd attempt another cakewalk until i got to Glavine, he tore me to pieces on the change and i couldnt hit the sinker after going for it.4th time i ignored Hand's slider unless it was middle or up, only swung at Leiter's sinker and didnt swing at any of Glavine's changeups until the last one which was at top of the zone, sinker was hittable with letting the CH go and the slider was never close to a strike.then of course i did the same for wilson, let the slider/ cutter go unless it was middle or higher(still heavy righty lineup but he couldnt decimate me this time) -
I got extremely lucky in my first matchup. He threw his sweeping curve exactly down the middle in his first pitch.

Sorry, don't have any tips other than be patient at the plate, he threw a lot of pitches off the plate when I faced him. I was able to get through this Showdown the first try. Now the Future of the Franchise one, that took me at least 6 or 8 times to get past Jackson Jobe and beat it.

On my last out I hit a HR in a tie game with Castellanos to beat Glavine. He is pretty brutal.
-
Take pitches and get deep into the count. Showdown will ruin you if you are not patient.

I wish I could help, my approach this year has been to avoid showdowns, I've only played the ones tied to other programs, no need to do main program ones because of all the xp I get playing the game.
Like others have said be patient and wait for your pitch. This year regardless of difficulty, I have to wait for my pitch, sadly the more I play, the less often the CPU throws me the type of pitches I can handle. I am even getting walked on rookie and Veteran.

I found if you take a lot of pitches in Showdown they will eventually give you pitches right down the middle.

Thanks everyone. I did exactly what you all said, just focused on getting my pitch not worrying about the count, taking lots of pitches and got a cookie from Glavine to Mookie for a walkoff HR. Wilson was challenging too but Crawford and Goldy came through with RBI doubles. The best part.....it's over.
But I have to say as frustrating as it is, showdown can be fun. You didn't hear that from me.

I have actually had decent luck with showdown this year. I couldn't hit with goldie but Castellanos is a game saver. I think him and Crawford both hit game winning home runs on with a few outs remaining.

Agree, but this game sucks in the fact that you can swing at good first pitches and still pop up or dp. They shouldn't penalize you for swinging early if the pitch is a meatball.

I was a little shook going in because I never ever faced Glavine, and i failed twice vs. Hand.
I was able to crank one with Brandon Crawford lefty on lefty to beat him.

I’m actually stuck on the Future Stars Showdown. I kept getting beat by Jackson Jobe, but I finally beat him this morning and now I’m just procrastinating on beating the last 2 pitchers (Matt Brash & Reid Detmers). Lol.
