    Hi everyone,

I'm a decent not great player in ranked seasons (700s, 30-18 record or something close), and recently I've had a heck of a time pitching with my bullpen late in games. I'm often giving up 4-5 runs leads in the 7th inning and later with my pen. It's all diamonds save for one (Lee Smith, who is usually my last resort/mop up pitcher.) I'm curious if anyone has advice for the way to approach late game pitching or other helpful pointers because I'm tired of giving up that big homer late.

Yeah, the trolls can tell me to "git gud" as an answer, but I know a lot of you on here are better than that. Thanks in advance. 🙂

This happened to me yesterday. Lost all 4 games in the 6th inning or later. Had leads of at least 2 runs every time. My starter carved their lineups up, and everything my relievers threw got hit into the next area code. Idk if they've boosted something for losing team late game, but it's [censored].

For me, it seems like relievers with short pitch variety get picked up pretty easily but if you can get relievers with 4-5 pitches like Gagne or tha diamond ottovino it keeps people guessing a little more and not sitting on fastball/slider the whole time

Amir Garrett’s stamina was down for me after 2 batters, maybe 9 pitches total? The OP used him and used him for 1 2/3 inning before he was in the yellow. Then my Kerry Wood imploded. Dude couldn’t catch up to a Kluber FB, but Wood came in and he hit 2 off of him. Quite odd.

Well, from what I was saying, those pitchers are pretty much fastball/slider or slurve for wood. Youre pretty much just looking for 2 pitches and because they both dont have very good control A decent hitter can pick up those relievers very easily. Relievers with more variety are more effective especially in this years game with the 3 batter minimum.

Did he hit two homers off fastballs? It does seem that woods pitches seem to gravitate toward the middle of the plate. Usually, however, when my relievers [censored] the bed is when I throw their off speed stuff. I think I’m going to try sticking with hard stuff with relievers. Maybe alternate between sinkers or fastballs or something.

Yes, one up and away and one low. But he couldn’t catch up to anything prior.
