I hopped into MTO for the first time last night, and actually enjoyed it much more compared to previous years. One big complaint/suggestion I have is that I cannot fully control the minor leagues by calling up and sending down whoever/whenever I want. I don’t like that call-up opportunities are completely random. It is fine for the fast-track to be random, but not the call-ups. For example, playing as Cleveland, I have James Karinchak in the minors, who would be one of my better bullpen arms, but I cannot call him up. My MLB team is also carrying three catchers, one of which is 60 overall. I should be able to easily call-up Karinchak, and send-down the 60 overall catcher at any time. I understand this isn’t Franchise mode, but the user should be able to fully and freely handle the call-up send down process in MTO.

You can try to manipulate it to work in your favor so that it gives you the player your want/need by default. For a challenge I wanted to play with a longshot team. So I chose the Baltimore Orioles. I immediately noticed Adley Rutchsman was not on the 25 man roster & had to be in the minors. So on the trade block I immediately put the 2 only Cathers within my 25 man roster on the block as who I wanted trade away which was Robinson Chirinos & Anthony Bemboom. On the very 1st trade I was offered from the Brewers Luis Urias for Chirinos & 2 other players whom will not impact me at all. I accepted the trade & now that my 25 man roster only had 1 Catcher, on the very next mission after trying give Urias a player boost, it now asked me if I would like like to call up Adlley Rutchsman, which of-course I did.

So with Cleveland if you want James Karinchak to be your 1st offered call up. then choose 4 bull pen arms to offer for a trade & within the the trades offered to you, at least 1 of those trades will have 1 of those 4 chosen within that trade. Accept that trade & now your 25 man roster will be less 1 reliever & will offer a reliever to be called up, & normally the 1 with the highest overall, in that case with Cleveland, it would be James Karinchak.

I really think this is the art of this years MTO. I did Arizona a little while back and was able to trade for Joe Adell from the Angels for 3 insignificant players. Adell was put straight to the minors. I tried several ways to get him called up or fast tracked and nothing worked. Putting RFs on the block, saying I needed RFs and LFs. (Had Jasson Dominguez in CF.) Nothing worked until I took RFs off the needed positions. Next time up, Adell was there for fast track. It's all a [censored] shoot. I think the worst thing to do is nothing. MTO and RTTS is still more fun than DD this year.

Hopefully they will fix the call-ups for next year. I don’t like not being able to call-up or send down the type of player I need like a catcher or SP. I don’t mind the fast-track players, but again, I’d like to be able to decide who to send down after the fast track instead of carrying too many of a catcher or RF, etc.
I do enjoy the MTO more this year and how you don’t play every game from the 7th inning on anymore.

That is not a [censored] shoot, bro. You had RF as a position of need on your TRADE BLOCK. SO if you are looking to trade for a RF, they are going to look for trades for that position, not call ups. As the previous bro posted, you have to make an available roster spot for that guy, and have no roadblocks to him.

Although I disagree, you make some good points. I didn't want to write a 3 page essay. I didn't have a single RF on my active team. Trades only proposed CF/RF or 35 year olds in the last year of their contracts for 3 decent prospects. I wanted Joe Adell for my RF. "A" potential and 6 years of playing time. In the 6th year he would be a high 80s low 90s that I could trade for another "A" prospect.

MTO and RTTS are my favorite parts of this game. Call ups and Fast tracks seem to be heavily influenced by your trade management input. You can get through an entire season in one day if that's all you do all day. I've had a lot of off time and played mostly MTO from Jan, when MLBTS21 stopped adding content, up to today. Patterns come up and are easy to discern after a while. 22 is very different in some respects from 21, but that pattern hasn't changed.

It is very much like rolling the dice. All you can try to do is try to lessen the number of sides. If you ask for a CF on trade management, you will often get RF/LF offered to you as a Trade, Call up, or Fast track. That's because they are more likely to have CF as their secondary position. For short term, that's fine. That was great for last year. I want to play MTO through several seasons, so I look at who will be at what position next year or the year after and so on. I want a RF at RF, just like I don't want a catcher at 1st, even though it offers a good catcher that can play 1st. I'd prefer to play with monopoly dice instead of Dungeons and Dragons.
