Mini Seasons Playoffs Chicanery
-
I played my first mini-season and had to go through the two god squads in the playoffs and barely won.
So the second season I admit that I tried to tank certain games to make sure both were eliminated from the playoffs. Lo and behold, even though the Whales were in 6th place and 3 games back in the standings from 4th place heading into their last two games—somehow they didn’t just end up in the playoffs—but finished 3rd and will match up (and likely beat my inferior squad) in the first round.
How can that happen??

Mini seasons is a joke. If you are lucky enough to beat the god squad you will be rewarded with an “unexpected server error” and your season will need to be reset back to game 1 with no rewards.
-
I ended up putting it on rookie and sweeping them—but this still should not happen.

I mean, I like a challenge offline. The CPU certainly doesn't play as well as actual people most of the time. I've found having a top notch Bullpen is the key to mini-seasons. I got the Lefty Grove from the Big Dog 3 packs, with his stamina and attributes, the CPU almost never makes contact and he can easily go 2 innings.
-
If you look at the standings towards the end of the year the cpu teams have 2 less games played than you. A least in my experience. Soooo idk. I blame it on the sports books and online gambling. If they could they’d monetize my kids instructional league games.

Overall, mini-seasons is a great addition (minus occasional game freezes) but one improvement is to have the CPU teams face the same pitcher fatigue constraints as the user's team. I can work a pitcher into the red and he shows up fully charged the next game.

I hadn't noticed that yet, but I'm not the best at paying close attention to the CPU roster. I'll pay attention in a bit when I continue my grind, but I agree, it should be equal.

I've played through twice, all games and only 1 one win was recorded as a loss. I'm doing them on Rookie because I don't care. All the games are easy.
Edit, just gimmie all those packs!!!

You’re gonna be pissed when you win the semis and get locked out.

I’ve played through 3 mini seasons with no lockout. Just don’t get locked out.

Same here. Been through twice with not a single issue.

Well that’s your fault we don’t have a fix yet!

I mean if you read the bios, The whales are supposed to be the big budget team and the Cats are supposed to be the big budget team that can’t win. So I’d assume there is an algorithm that makes these two teams have higher overalls than the others.

I'm doing this too but what sucks is going back to all star (like in the new conquest map tomorrow) and readjusting to the speed.
But yeah, the packs and stubbs are nice in mini seasons. I'm just playing until I have the 2nd seed clinched then I quit out of the rest of the regular season games.

I almost snapped my controller the other day...Right now I'm 18-3 heading into the mini stretch, 4 games up on 2nd. Yeah I play on veteran(I find the pitching is most inconsistent there, makes hitting more challenging, just my opinion)...but two of my three losses were due to absolute skullduggery. One I was bottom 4, they just went up 1 in the top half on a lead off double due to my cutoff man lollipopping the relay home...which gives off "scripted" vibes, and then I get the first guy on on a drag bunt(initially intended to move the runner over...alas he retreated to the bag, even though I put the H&R on)...next guy is Cover Donaldson, who smacks a no doubter...triggers the HR no doubt angle, guy even says "this one is over!"...and then "you have lost connection to the server"...after much swearing I re-establish connection only to find it handed me the L.
The other was less dramatic, but more aggravating...I got walked off on a slider down, and about 8 inches off the plate(the chase swing animation)...somehow he pulled it for a no doubter...again giving off scripted vibes. The third loss was just me failing to locate and got smacked around early. 39 pitch first inning, my own fault there. I'm also not a fan of how with 2 strikes everyone fouls EVERYTHING off. -
