Question about Upgrading

I just got a new Xbox series S. Wanted to upgrade my game. Do I need to install what I have first and then upgrade it? Wasn’t real sure how this worked.

It says on their Facebook page that if you bought the standard edition on Xbox one or PS4, that you can upgrade for $10 at any time.

Did you purchase a digital copy of the game? The Series S doesn't have a disc drive. If so, try going on the Xbox store and find the Series S / X version and check the cost. I think on Playstation they recognize that you have the lower version tied to your account and will give you the upgrade price. It may be the same on Xbox.
