My Review So Far

Didn't plan on buying the game this year due to increased workload but I made an impulse decision and I have played a good amount of offline and its been pretty fun. Playing madden and 2k offline is mind numbingly boring, but with mini seasons, RTTS, and conquest Ive actually liked it. Those three modes offer tons of XP and I'm at around 400k even though I don't want to since there's so much time left for this program. Online play isn't as sweaty compared to other sports games and even the card collecting aspect has been pretty fun. Ill give the game an 8/10 because of new features and good content so far. Only issue is lack of hit variety and the fact that homers are 90% of runs which just isn't realistic. Overall game is solid this year.

Hitting seems wired this year. I'm like barely winning some games on Rookie and Vet in conquest games. But then some I win like 12-0. Vet seems to be a bad difficulty this year with games routinely going 4 or 5 innings.

I’ll say you’ve played a good amount. Not a knock. I’m at 250 xp. I know I could have a ton more if I played RTTS, but I haven’t ventured into that mode. I agree with your assessment. I’ll reserve my full judgement until next week when I bring the squad online. Offline has been smooth for me and with the program kind of being a hybrid it’s allowed me to stay on task.

I too am mostly offline. I like the new defensive animations but hate how every CPU defender is superman and plays like a better version of Trout!!! Additionally, CPU pitching is not a sim. I have the CPU strike frequency all the way up and am still getting 3 to 4 balls per at bat. Also I am getting sick of first pitch changeups! I have never seen a Major League pitcher throw a first pitch of the game and throw a changeup! If they fixed these little things this game would be great!

Ok. Asking because I was tempted to give RTTS a shot, to build up some XP, but heard it's easier with a next gen console due to being able to download a certain created stadium.
Thanks for the reply.

I'm enjoying the game so far. The only real gameplay thing I would complain about is fielders are still ridiculous regardless of stats and weak armed catchers are still gunning down guys with fast speed and good steal even when they have a good jump.

The stadium hasn't really mattered. Downloading a roster with 1 overall players on all other teams along with beginner difficulty makes it easy to crush everything and rack up stats no matter where you play.

Yea online I personally want to see more balls find open grass and less clear the fences. I feel like good swings don’t get rewarded with base hits as often as they should
