Slowly inching its way towards Madden-like exploitative monetization: SDS.

They'll give us lots of free cards and offline grind options, but they'll also nerf stubs XP.

    See where that's going?

Can we have this conversation without mention of the dumpster fire that is EA please?

I mean, the first reason you should be playing the game is because it’s fun.

The amount of people that seem to endure hours of tedious un-enjoyment, to unlock cards that they can use to go grind more tedious un-enjoyment, I’d rather disturbing.

If your sole reason for playing the game is a compulsion and addiction to completing reward paths and whatever extrinsic carrot SDS is dangling in front of your face, then you may want to reassess your situation.

And to clarify, this doesn’t mean you can’t be critical of the reward structures. I think it’s the “waste of time” that struck me and the amount of posts from people who seem to be spending hundreds of hours in something they don’t even enjoy and don’t seem to realize the game is designed to be manipulative, and it may literally be an unhealthy addiction for them.

The definition of a waste of time.

So you didn't just play 10 innings in RS?

Yes, but the guy who spent the last hour hitting HR's while watching his favorite soap opera got 30,000 XP and thousands of stubs. Same game we're playing. Make it make sense.

I am sure he's talking about the RTTS grind. And he is 100% correct, for an hours worth of time in RTTS, u get can get about thus much XP AND u get equipment and perks u can sell for stubs

Exactly! All i enjoy playing is DD ranked seasons, the single player stuff has never been my thing.
Ranked games have never been this dismal as far as after game rewards. 20 stubs for a 9 inning game is insulting tbh.

I ised to be able to progress and get packs etc playing just Ranked DD. Now it never happens

If you look at the market you don’t need as many stubs as years passed. The change in value in quick sell changed a lot. Keep grinding the mystery map conquest for the 5 free packs you’ll get a diamond eventually. I get almost 2k xp per game.

I remember the days when we used to play baseball video games simply for fun.

Real Sports Baseball on the Atari 2600
Star league Baseball on the Commodore 64
    Earl Weaver Baseball
    Hardball
    etc etc etc

I agree that the stub amount and XP are bare minimum, seems like.

But, the new RS innings is one of the best things they’ve done for this game…online. You get the WS cards and numerous rewards along the way….without even having to win a game. It’s made RS fun again for me cause I’m making progress no matter the outcome.

No, they really are not. You may not enjoy it but let's look at some evidence.

    1. Every person who plays Franchise in this game is doing it for the enjoyment.
    2. People who play super mega baseball do it for the enjoyment.
    3. People who play franchises in Out Of The Park baseball do it for the fun.
    4. People who play RBI Baseball (god help them) do it for the fun.

It seems like only us gamers (and I include myself) who get sucked into these ultimate team modes are the ones who put other goals ahead of the goal that should be #1 for everyone, which is to have fun.
