How was MLBTS 20 aka, covid Show?
-
Turns out that the agreement in place for the game operates outside of the collective bargain agreement so the lockout and no deal in place has no impact of the games release. SDS has gone silent since the release of the new showdown and the schedule not updated. The likely hood is that the next time we here from SDS will be about 22 in some capacity

This is a different deal.
The reason we haven't heard from MLB 22 is likely due to no collective bargain in place as such you can't have players be shown in MLB team uniforms.
The last MLB game that was impacted by a lockout were in 1994 and in that year the games were MLBPA branded game and no actual MLB teams
There is a good chance that MLB 22 is delayed until the lockout is ended then released a week later if this extends into the season. MLB the show is based on an agreement signed by MLB and MLBPA so been collective bargaining when so did any agreements in place and are frozen
But everyone else is saying that all the player likenesses come through a contract with Topps (or something along those lines), which means that the game could go on like it did in 2020, just no roster updates or Topps Now until it begins.
That's definitely not true

Here is the statement from when the newest deal was signed. Since the MLB and Players do not have a deal in place any joint projects can not continue as they don't have a deal. I hope I'm wrong but the fact the teams can do any articles or features for players on their website it's responsible to assume this extends to digital repenstaions of players on that team.
completely false, the lockout has zero impact on mlb ts22 outside of roster updates and programs

That's great news, where or how did you find this out? I'm not questioning the validity, I would just love to learn more about the whole thing. Thanks for posting.

I read the same thing in the news today. It's actually making MLB level headlines. It's true. The Show will go on!

That game rant article was what kinda started this debate in another thread. But as several people mentioned, they are kinda just click bait and have no facts to back them up. I don't know, I never really read their stuff.

I seriously read an article that said the Show has a separate agreement and they'll be fine. I was surprised when I couldn't find it on google.

I mean, I just hope MLB and the players union aren't stupid enough to actually miss a portion of the season due to this. They would lose a lot of money and worse, a lot of fans. They can't use steroids to win them back this time.

no, steroids won't win the fans back this time. They're banking on endless, expanded playoffs to win the fans back this time. They want a gigantic bracket you can compete with your buddies with in pools, just like March Madness, and I'm directly quoting Rob Manfred on that. The MLB's latest proposal is 14 teams get in, which is more than half of all teams.
My question is, what is the point of playing 162 games? Just to eliminate less than half of the field? I hate it. But I'm old and out of touch so maybe it will work perfectly. Couldn't hate the idea more, myself.

About 3/4 into the article is a blurb about the agreement and that it wouldn't affect the games spring release. This was shared on Ance Larmstrongs Twitter page. Not his biggest fan but I'll give him credit for finding this first
