You know the one...the pitcher deals high and away and it bounces off something...an invisible wall (or invisible something) and hits the ground.

Does anyone know what the ball is hitting?

Oh - and it never happens when I'm pitching, only when I'm batting.

    that would be the catcher.

Uhm...really? The ball hits mid-air and falls to the ground. If it was the catcher, it would disappear like all the other pitches.

I've seen videos where sometimes there is an 'invisible wall' in the outfield that when a ball looks like it's going to be a no doubter all of a sudden drops straight down.

Next time it happens, I'll clip it and stick it on youtube and post a link here.

Hahahaha, is it really just the catcher dropping the ball? I've seen it happen when there is someone on base and they don't pan away for a passed ball or wild pitch, although if they throw it in the dirt they might pan away. I am sure you're right, otherwise it's hitting the ump in the face (not a terrible alternative). It's just so random the way it happens.

I’ve always thought they clipped the umpire?

But now that I think about it, it is on high and away balls. And not where it would hit the ump

Well, that's a lame post. A YouTube video of nothing but a need for speed ad with music? Unless you posted the wrong link.

Well if you are using the strike zone camera you won't be able to see. It will just look like the balls falling out of mid air.

If you are using a pitching camera angle and it happens it looks like the catcher gets crossed up and it hits him in the chest or clanks off his glove weirdly.
