Did I Face A Pro?
-
Define what a pro is in this game.
Sometimes people are just locked in. I think most of us who have played this game a lot have been there or on the opposite side of it.
-
I’ve never been there but I’ve definitely been on the other side of it…
-
Sounds like a regular game to me
-
If you only played 4 RS games you are still playing on veteran lol. All your games should be slugfest.
In events you can get matched up with anyone and this one is on all star I believe. So yeah, gonna be tough not to give up bombs to decent players
-
its when you play a guy on hall of legend who smacks you then you need to worry, veteran or all-star pci is huge so because i play alot on hall of fame i can smack the ball on all-star cause pitchs look slower and bigger pci to swing with
-
I’ve been on both sides of this for sure. Had a game where I hit like 7 straight homers off a guy using Finest Degrom last year and was like I could do no wrong and seemed to recognize everything instantly. Then had something similar happen against me against a guy with a sub .500 record and had never advanced past wild card in RS. Head scratcher

Yeah it’s a head scratcher when you face them guys…it’s when they lead off, first pitch for a high inside 102 fastball with a homerun, then second batter goes deep on a low and away change up, then you’re frigged
If I turn on a 102 fastball and hit it well, next batter I am looking soft down and away. People tend to throw the opposite pitch of what you hit well. If you smash a low and away slider, I am looking hard in for the next batter.

I stopped guessing a long time ago. Instead I trained my eye to pick up release points and react to what I see. I can be had if you know how to tunnel pitches. If you don’t and expect speed to overpower me than it will be a long game for you. And I think most of your top tier players are much the same way.

I actually find I struggle on AS far more than HOF and legend because the balls is moving too slow. I end up swinging way to early or way too late trying to time lower difficulties.

Thanks for all the responses. I must have simply faced my first opponent that just knows what they're doing.
It took me close to a year to get good enough at 2K to be competitive online so I should have expected there was no way I could get good enough at The Show in 3 weeks!

Some people pick it up instantly most others have to spend a lot of time practicing. My guess is a 2-3 year learning curve for this game to go from non-competitive to highly competitive.

Don’t worry about it to much. I remember a couple years ago I was much better than I am now. For some reason I played someone in his first online game. It wasn’t even close and I assured him not everyone was as good as me, not everyone is as good as the guy you played but it is good to come across them and see what’s actually possible. If you practice enough it’s entirely possible to hit that well.

So I'm a noob that mostly plays offline.
Online I am 4-0 in ranked seasons so far and I had won my first Event game.
And then in my 2nd Event game....The guy hit 4 homers in a row off my Superfractored DeGrom and I think 6 homers in the first 9 batters. (before I quit)
Most of his guys had over .500 averages and 20 or so HR each for his online stats.
It was quite the reality check! I think his username had ketodiet or something in it.
The Game Engine randomly super-nerfs and super-buffs. I've been on both ends. The super-buffing (when you're receiving) you can swing anywhere in the zone and get the "echoing crack" sound-bit every time you hit a ball.
You realize it's not going to last long because the majority of opponents recognize it for what it is and they quit. And, I never blame them. Most I've ever got was 4 homerooms in a couple innings before opponent bails.
Typically, it's after that first home-run they know, themselves, was well pitched by a 99 Diamond pitcher and defied all logic.
The super-nerfing....just hang around and read some of the more "raging" threads. You'll find out all you need to know about AI nerfing in this game.
