This is my first year playing and I am wondering from this point on in previous years what do they do as far as new card releases? They pumped out 98 and 99s pretty early compared to other games of this format. From this point on its hard to see actual possible significant upgrades.

Feel the same. But I’d take better Kirby and Harmon cards.

Ive had the same thought.TA3 hrd and asg would have been fine 94-96 ovr with room for future content.
Now all the cards are gonna look the same for the next 4 months

Everyone has their preferences for players they like so teams will vary ... I keep running out P5 Piazza even though I have a bunch of higher rated C

It's true that there isn't much room for improvement with the cards at this point, but we're also getting close to the time of the year when a large chunk of the game's player base will leave to go play something else. Playing one game and one game only for an entire year just isn't something that most people do.

Also, a pretty significant chunk of the players are casual and still have some grinding to do before they earn the awesome cards we've been getting lately. Not everybody treats this game like a job and plays all day every day.

True I am not judging how they are running it, I enjoy this game I am just curious previous years do we just get like obscure 99s now of players you wouldn't expect or do they just re-release top tier guys with somewhat different stats or do they pretty much stop new cards releases?

I totally get that, my favorite part of these format games is towards the end when I can run theme teams and have actual useable options. I am just curious what to expect going further.

I'm actually not sure. I'm usually one of the people who gets burned out at around this time of year and moves on.
