Robbie Ray

No, I'm not trying to sell any. I have ONE in my inventory. But with some of the injuries and ineffectiveness of a few recently, I see him as a Cy Young dark horse. I'm actually gonna see what his odds are at. Stuff has always played. If he trims the BB a bit more and truly emerges as an ace it could happen. Might have to check Toronto's WS Odds too. Maybe a year away from that yet tho? Thoughts?
-
It’s definitely between him and Cole. I think Bieber is gonna be gone for too long and Gibson just doesn’t get enough Ks.
As for the WS I don’t see it happening. I think the AL belongs to either Boston, Chicago, or Houston.
-
Can't forget Lynn and Rodon.

Ray has been awesome. I've watched pretty much every start of his this year. He just simply attacks the zone with his fastball. That's it... Attack attack attack.. and nobody can hit it. He will mix in his nasty slider and decent change, but he's become a different pitcher by not nibbling anymore. He throws strikes. Gives up lots of homers still but he's not walking anybody and has always had elite K rates..
He's going to get paid.. and the Jays would be smart to lock him up now -
I’d put money down. The guy is very much a dark horse. Last year I won a ton on beiber as I bet $200 for him to win at the start of the season. Right now depending on where you bet you’re looking at 40x-60x your bet. $100 could net you a very good pay day.

The Jays are 1-2 starters/bullpen guys away from being a serious contender for a title. I think next year

Ya, I think next year will be scary. With this core.. plus they'll have 70+ mill freed up again to spend just to match payroll, which undoubtedly should even go higher.. resigning Semien and Ray are needed though... Or let Semien walk and sign someone like Corey Seager.. lots of options.. just please no Correa, thx

Agreed. Just know Semien will ask for a big payday. He’s risky but has proved he can produce. Just wonder about term. They could probably get by letting him walk but also agree they need to find a solid “plan B” option. Biggio just isn’t getting it done.
I feel like Gurriel could be a key piece for them at the deadline or offseason to fetch a good starter. Then sign another big name starter in the offseason, strengthen the bullpen and all of a sudden, we have solid, complete team from top to bottom
Unless they go on an absolute tear coming up, I feel they’re too far back to make it into October this year. It sucks but the bullpen let them down big time in the first half

They weren't meant to be a contender this year. That's OK. We can live with that and be extremely excited for what the future can be with this team if they can lock up some decent pitching for next year and beyond.
Showing promise this year was key to try and attract arm talent. Proving to the pitching world that they will get run support gives them a solid leg to stand on in going after arms.

With Cimber, Borucki, Richards, and soon Hatch who is pitching well in AAA added soon, they're going to improve in the pen. Add one more piece (Kimbrel or Rodriguez?) And they'll be solid. Merryweather and Pearson could be that last push addition too.
Add a starter to take Matz spot and the Jays could take off still.. especially with the Rays kind of starting to faulter.. playoffs are well within reach..
Reminiscent of 2015.. only with an extremely young core instead of an aging one..
Wish Moreno stayed healthy.. he is the future behind the dish. -
Ray is the undisputed ace of the staff. I've also watched every start this year and he's not even walking loads of guys right now anyway -- lowest bb/9 of his career by far. And the fastball is nearly unhittable even though it's always in the zone. Ray's attacking style of pitching is reminding me of Pat Hentgen's Cy Young year. Probably not a unanimous win (if Ray wins it) but if he does, it'll be a squeaker (probably against Rodon).

He's only 29 too... I'd offer him 3/60. A bit better than what Lynn just got because he's much younger.

I guess Ryu heard me because he threw down the gauntlet today
