No thank you. I have zero confidence that SDS could do this without causing other major issues or opening up another area for glitches/exploits.

Everyone complains about this including me. Just capped a 9-0 run with a loss against a guy using relievers only using L2 to quick pitch every pitch. Every pitch breaks different that way. That's not how it happens in real life.
Here's the solution IMO: make it a quirk. Give it to Stroman, give it to Cueto. Give it to guys who ACTUALLY use a quick pitch motion. Get them in the studio to record their quick pitch motion. Also, when they hold L2, show the circle size increasing around the pitch - drop their control by 20. Nobody, including Stroman, are as effective from their quick pitch motions. Nobody.
Stop giving guys who are 100-100 records a chance to beat guys who actually compete at a high level, but haven't played online for years to experience hours and hours of this spam to the point they can read it. There's plenty of us who picked up the game late, saw the quick pitch only in franchise mode with runners on in rare scenarios and never thought it'd be a legitimate strategy.
Using L2 isn't quick pitching. It's Slide Stepping. Quick pitching is spamming the pitch mechanism real fast so the pitch is released before the batter has time to 'get set'. Or another way to explain it is as soon as the pitch crosses the plate the person pitching is already trying to get their pitcher's windup started.

Okay fine. Sorry, was mad I lost. Either way, both need to go. Lol. Quick pitching is bad but manageable. Watching a submariner suddenly throw overhand with nobody on base is not.

I ran my league like this - you wouldn’t imagine the amount of bitching it brought about. But I agree with you.

So is quick pitching and slide stepping the same? Or are they two different things?
@SavageSteve74 is correct - they're two different things. I just want it to be realistic if it slide stepping stays. I agree that there's a place for it in this game. There isn't a place for it to be abused though. They've made such great strives towards making this game competitive. My suggestion of making it a quirk - and giving it to some players - Nestor Cortes used it today. It not only fixes the issue, but adds a layer of strategy - you want to spam it? Draft the players that have it. On the other side of the coin - I can walk into a game going "oh, he's using Stroman, be prepared" rather than getting blindsided.
The player I played had a handful of other toxic traits, bunt spamming for example, etc. But those ones/quick pitching have ways to work around it. Watching a guy change his arm slot and therefore the angle of his pitches completely does not.
My last four BR runs have been 12-1, 12-1, 9-1 (which I gave in because I didn't care to grind 3 more wins for a Max Scherzer for 15k) and this 9-1. During those four runs I've beat (handily) 4 flawless guys, including two 5x flawless.
But the second I hit the toxic guy quick pitching, because I haven't seen it, it's over for me. It expands the strike zone because the break of the pitches are no longer natural. And my key to winning is taking tons of pitches and waiting for my pitch. I'll usually get every pitcher they use into the 20+ pitch range.
It just sucks. I get that I have to "get gud” to get over that 1 loss that someone hands me every time. I have no problem being beat. I have lots of problem being screwed out of it by a toxic player who, quite frankly, can't go flawless either. Beat me the way the game was intended to be played, and I'll message you "great game!" - as I have done to many in the past.

Oh yeah, it was hilarious when the leagues I was in started bitching.

I don't know if it can be programmed to not allow slide stepping unless a runner is on base.
But I do agree; it shouldn't be abused.

If it can’t be - fine - then have the arm slot and pitch break match the pitcher. I really think it could be added in as a quirk and handled that way. Give it to the pitchers who actually have one.

I am convinced pitchers lose all their H/9 and K/9 when slide stepping. Slide stepping almost always leads to a bomb. I'll sneak in a little slide step change up from time to time to throw the batter off if someone is on base but not often. Very dangerous.
-
I dunno man, I never complain about someone using a sidestep. When there's a runner with some speed on, you need to use it. Some guys use it when the bases are empty and they think they're edgy while doing it, but you lose a lot of control when you sidestep which leads to very hittable pitches. Best way to make them stop doing it, is to punish them hard whenever they miss a location which will 100% happen at some point. Just don't miss ️.

Pretty much but guys use it out of the stretch with noone on. Any umpire would immediately call it an illegal pitch and an automatic ball. Not because they slidestep, but because they never come set at all. It's worse in this game because skipping the comeset animation actually warps the animation and throws off trying to pick up the release point. That gets magnified when they slidestep without coming set.
