I pitch to contact every game. I throw my waste pitches when I need to. I am well above average at pitching but once they start the contact swing it changes your entire approach to pitching. You have to tip toe around the edges. Man it's the worst feeling lol.... even more annoying with the little zit i am playing immediately messages me "scoreboard"

Hey, I broke my 6th controller over this game yesterday because Topps moments were pissing me off. I actually just threw it on the couch but missed and now the controller won't power on now. This game is too much RNG and it has become such complete trash. I'd rather concentrate on other things to constantly get pissed off at this [censored] game.

Maybe someone else on here has the time and willingness to do an exact measurement. That’s assuming the pictures are the exact same size as well, otherwise it will be extremely difficult.

If we are being honest with ourselves there shouldn’t be more than one swing. I get the idea and it fits well into the video game mold because of the various cards but if it can’t be executed properly then let’s just simplify it for the sake of everyones sanity lol. Having an approach is going into an at bat with a mental picture/scenario/idea of what you are looking for, what you expect (if you’ve been paying attention to the pitchers tendencies), and what you are going to do if you get what you expect…it’s legitimately all mental lol. The swing at its entirety won’t change. Now I can get on board with a hit and run because I’d consider it an extreme circumstance…which you may be correct on because you absolutely have to put your bat on the ball…regardless of location…so that is going to more than likely warrant a wonky swing unlike any of the normals ones. But go look at a majority of players 0-2 swing compared to a players 1-1, 2-1, 2-2, 2-0 swing…sure they may stick their [censored] out and slap a few foul because they are either fooled or are trying to “keep the battle going, raise the pitchers pitch count” but when they actually take a good swing on a ball in or around the zone the swing is the same and that’s what I’m trying to get at. Good lord why does everyone on here have to be so hostile. I can agree with you on some 0-2 pitches where the batter pokes the ball foul and it looks hideous and clearly isn’t a normal swing and hit and runs but other than that their swing will be identical on singles, doubles, triples, home runs, swings and misses because consistency is what makes the elite players elite. You won’t have consistency if you have three different swings depending on different counts.
Lmao wtf do you think contact, normal, power is in the game? They aren't different swing animations or a change in swing, it's a change in approach... I can show you clips of Bo Bichette swinging out of his shoes on some early counts and practically falling over (power), far more controlled on others (normal), and some hitters smacking the ball just to get it play on a hit and run, move runners along, or to protect on others (contact).
There's only one actually swing motion for each player, the power/normal/contact is their approach more or less....
Plus... It's a video game... If the O button works best to hit then just use the O button... The complaints about this are unreal like people are so convinced it needs to be the X button, honestly what does it matter who cares press the dang button that hits best lol

All the swings are fundamentally the same. That’s all I am saying. The swing at its core will pretty much always stay the same regardless of the situation… granted there are a few exceptions but you don’t see players actual swings changing too drastically pitch to pitch. I was more so saying the mental approach is the only thing that can truly change…but you are saying the same thing so I think in a weird way we are on the same page. I mean you can swing as hard as you want but at the end of the day that swing will essentially have the same fundamentals as a “put the ball in play” swing…the only difference is the approach/mentality of the hitter. I guess my confusion is how contact results in higher exit velos more consistently than any of the other swings when in the video game it’s supposed to have the “put it in play mentality”. And yeah homeruns happen when players have that approach I get that but not as often as it seems like it happens in this game…you know?

The game is in a very rough spot. I can’t believe I’m saying this but it’s the worst it has ever been. My last game was a nail biter where I struck out my opponent a whopping 23 times. However, I still gave up 5 runs. Almost every time he touched the ball it was a home run. He’d get men on base with a strikeout passed ball, then launch the next pitch with a contact swing where his PCI was no where near the ball. I eventually beat him 7-5 and had several balls that were squared up in the middle of the PCI that resulted in weak fly balls. I don’t really know what to say about the state of the game. I’m not the greatest player in the world by a long shot but did go 12-0 twice last year and have been playing since ‘18. All Star is in the worst spot it’s ever been and contact swing is compounding the issues with gameplay. It’s a bummer considering it’s a game I love to play. Nothing groundbreaking here, and sounds like a lot of people are having the same problems, but it’s not fun when you are fearing you’ll lose to a player who literally can’t put the pci on the ball.

Lol, I’m right (or at least very close to right), but thanks for playing. Unless you have some other information that disproves my answer, which is backed by math, I’ll stick with mine. And it’s only a matter of time before they correct the contact swinging mistake. I’m actually a little surprised it has taken them this long, tbh. Then we’ll finally see which of the CS can actually learn to hit with normal swing or just start hitting a lot of weaker balls. It’s coming, only a matter of time.

Ok smart guy here is the math
Image one has a radius .875. Square that radius gives you .77 multiply that by 3.14 gives you an area of 2.4
Image 2 has a radius .75. Square that radius gives you .56 multiply that by 3.14 gives you an area of 1.77.
The difference between the two is .73. Basically it’s a just under 3/4 the size of the normal swing or in your terms just under 1.5x the size. Yes you’re absolutely wrong and now I’m done arguing with your [censored]. Later kid

️Sorry kid measurements were spot on. Actually used a measurement app on my phone to find the radius. After that it’s plug and play. I can do this all day.

Kid I’ve been playing this game longer than you all the way back to when it was still 989 sports. So please spare me your analytical insight especially when you’ve been wrong from the beginning. The circle is bigger however it makes it that much harder to square hence the contact swing as there is more area to cover because the circle is bigger. Contact swing is this years RNG. Next year what’s your complaint gonna be? Ooooh I got it catchers reaction times. If it’s not one thing it’s another. Btw I hit plenty well last year to the tune .320 and this year it’s almost .400 so try again kid. Oh and that’s not using your garbage contact swing. I only use normal swing.

Pfft…Wrong?…Haha, ok. Whatever you need to tell yourself. Just because you think you’re right, doesn’t make it so. It has little to do with squaring up as HRs at the fringe of the larger circle are about as common as a normal swing. The only difference between the 2 is a larger circle, And though I’m not certain of this, it seems like the sweet spot is a little later get as well, but like I said, I’m not sure of that one.

I had given up 2 hits going into the 9th, checked box score after game, struck out 23 of 27 batters and somehow OP rattled off 5 hits and 5 runs in the 9th off my best arms. Even threw to 3B to get the out before OP scored 1 run to end the inning and it threw it not to 3B(SS covering) but the 3B standing at the mound. I will go get gud or something.
