PCI thoughts

This year's version of the game has, imo, been more manipulative of the controller/PCI than past seasons. In fact, after the last "fix", I've noticed at least a 20% disregard for my controller movement of the PCI. In other words I'll drop my PCI down/up/left/right and it just sits in the middle when animation depicts it.
So, I'm really torn as to what is going on. Is it, indeed, network lag? Well, I truly plan on accurately tracking the numbers once/if I start playing again. But, I've noticed a trend in that if I adjust PCI incorrectly (go low on a middle of the plater) it ALWAYS catches the error and animation shows my improper swing.
The high fast ball (regardless of which) when thrown top-of-the-zone by a high-velocity pitcher is unhittable when the AI has preordained a low-scoring game. I had an opponent just keep throwing it with Priester last night. I'm sure he was just testing out the nonsense, as was I. So he would throw it..I've already got my PCI up exactly where he's been throwing the pitch. Timing it perfectly, and getting a constant "Very" or "To" Late. It's like the AI animation just disregards PCI placement and overrides it when a hard thrower is up in the zone.
And, like everyone, I've hit mammoth home-runs when the pitch isn't even touching the inner circle and I've check-swinged with my controller. This, imo, is even worse because it's a blatant disregard for my actual swing and underscores the fact my opponents are probably getting the same "gifts" way too often.
So, how do you get any sort of decent feedback from your swing when the AI animation is so inconsistent? I understand it's likely AI coded to produce a preordained result before the pitch is even thrown, but can't the developers make the sleight-of-hand believable?

It is indeed network lag

I agree PCI is a bit of a mess - sometimes I push up and it has me as low , doesn't happen allot but enough to be annoying. at times it has me no where near i moved the joy stick.
-
So this isn't my imagination! I have been getting false PCI feedback exactly like The Captain said above.

I really think the Feedback is broken and been broken for years

And that's easy to say, for sure it takes blame off the game itself..sort of. Many out here have that agenda undoubtedly.
But, how do you know this? No offense, but is it just what you've read? Have you done an analytical investigation (for a better term)?
Because I've not seen any indication of a consistency. It changes from game to game. It happens in the air-quotes offline modes like Conquest (and, yeah, everything in DD is coming off a server at some level).
For sure, it takes any semblance of competition/skill out of a game that I've never felt had a lot of that going for it anyway.

I don't. I think the feedback is correct.

I'm not so sure it's broken or purposely coded to be overridden (manipulated) when AI is dictating outcomes.
Could see that code: "if player 1 has lost 2 games in a row, queue the animation that shows a homerun if he even touches the controller. Scroow player 2."
"if player 2 has bases loaded and no outs, has already won his quota of games, queue the double-play home-to-first animation regardless of how perfect his swing is or high the ball is"
"if in the first inning and player 1 has anyone on 1B (regardless of speed) regardless of lead Player 2 has allowed him, regardless of the speed of pitch, regardless of the catcher's arm, queue the out stealing second animation"
Those quotes are pretty representative, I believe, of how the game works.
But, yeah, agree with you the feedback is as consistent and in synch as the commentary.

quick update - last night it happened 60% of the time , I'm a pretty good hitter and last night it was like I never played the game before....thankfully I can still pitch lol

There is no doubt it's much-much more frequent in the past few days. And, in a game that really only has one situation where a player can make a difference (the swing), it just takes away the entire value of zone hitting.
But, really, in this game it doesn't matter. We could all play directional and the results would be the same. Pinpoint vs pulse vs meter..the AI is still going to decide and animate where it has preordained the flow of the game must go.
But it would be nice if SDS would, at least, give us the illusion that moving the PCI in zone mode helps. But, to do that, they have to fix whatever they broke so the animation follows controller input.
