Are the cpu pickoff attempts the same across all modes?
-
I only play diamond dynasty and it's completely stupid. I'm convinced that the game doesn't want to let me leadoff and that I'm actually glitching the game when I stubbornly continue to try despite not having any fun at all watching it try to pick me off 4 times before every pitch.
Does it also do this in franchise and march2oct? Does anyone know why they made it like this? It's definitely not fun and definitely not realistic, so I can only assume they don't want any leading off against them. -
I dont think anything is the same across any of the mode to be perfectly honest

It’s not unrealistic; it’s the kind of leads base stealers in the past took to bait a pickoff so they could study the pitcher’s move.

So then am I supposed to be stealing manually somehow? Like pressing a button when the pitcher lifts his foot?

You can hold R2 and release it to go

Yeah but then you get a bad start and get thrown out, so that's why I'm trying to take an extra leadoff step, and that's why I'm watching the pitcher try to pick me off 4 times every pitch, which is what this post was originally about

There’s an old trick to basestealing vs CPU. It’s not realistic at all, but works like 99% of time. Set your runner to steal and show bunt with your batter. As soon as the pitch is thrown, pull back the bunt. Your base runner should get a perfect jump and will be safe almost every time.

Yeah that seems to work well enough. Still got thrown out once but better than watching all those pickoff moves. Does anyone use holding down steal to time better jumps? I might start trying

For stealing in RTTS, you can watch the catcher (knees). Once he moves, that is when you steal for the best timing. Also, I like to hold the back button until I see the catcher move so that I will not get picked off.
