IS this how MtO works in playoffs?
-
I've only ever played this mode once. I choose the Twins and won 120 games in regular season.
But in the playoffs every game I entered in 6th or 7th inning I was Losing except for 2. And the other 2 games it was tied. All were low scoring games when I entered. Is this how it is always is in the playoffs or will you actually enter games where you are winning, or even have games that are blowouts.
-
Thats how it is for me all the time
-
Once in awhile you might get a game where you're up 5-2 or something like that but they're never really blowouts.
-
Certainly seems like it. They have that fire meter to build momentum which seems to work ok in the regular season but kinda useless for the playoffs

Ive done 2 MTO for this years version and both times i was really hot coming into the playoffs. W/Braves I won 124 games n every playoff game I was either up by 1 or 2 or tied except for series clinchers when I would usually be tied or down a run. It was the same W/Dodgers. I won 132 reg season games and pretty much had the lead in every playoff game except for series clinchers

Is there a way to start it over? I didn't know it would change me to beginner if I changed the CPU level and now its WAAAAAY too easy! Help please

I played a season of MTO, won the division, and my first game of the best-of-5 ALDS against the Yankees they dropped me into the sixth inning down 11-2. Talk about demoralizing.

I'm on like my 8th MTO season (this has turned into my favorite mode this year). What I found is that outside of Beginner mode the game does not want you to sweep a series. I notice that even if I have max momentum, I'll start behind in at least 1 game in the series. Sometimes it's the first game of the series, but it tends to make you even or winning if you lose that game. I've only ever had one series go the distance (on dynamic difficulty where I was up to All-Star) and I actually won it with a miracle 9th inning HR. Expect it to even out as the series goes on...I had two games in a row (with the Rays) where I was behind 1. I lost one game and won the other. Then I had a game where I was up 11 - 2 in the 7th inning...go figure.

Okay yeah I was wondering about this. I won 107 games regular season with my crappy 2021 Mariners. And I swept the Twins in the ALDS to my own surprise. My fire meter was FULL.
I won game one of ALCS vs the Yankees, lose game two (I started down 2 and lost), my fire meter lost 5 points whereas I was only winning 2 for each playoff win. What is that about??
Guess what happened next? Game three, the score put me up by 1 and I added on to win. Games four and five I started down 2 in both and came back to win both. I’m so confused as to why if I have the momentum high on my side, why am I starting games down 2 runs instead of tied or up a couple runs?
I managed to trade for Ohtani, Bogaerts, Jared Walsh, and Whit Merrifield but that’s all. I promoted a couple starters from within and I have STRUGGLED through this.
Just wondering about the whole momentum thing because I gotta play the Brewers in the WS and I’d like to not start down every game -
Yeah my Rays season was wonky in the playoffs. It seems like the more you are in the underdog scale (starting out) the worse you can be in the playoffs regardless of the momentum meter.
Swept by the Dodgers in the WS:
Game 1: Down 2 - 0 (couldn't hit Bauer) Game 2: Down 2 - 0 (scored once). Game 3: Tied (Bellinger HR'd an inside slider) Game 4: Tied (Dodger's hit everything I threw).
Playing the Angels now, have been up or tied in every playoff game so far. -
I've never played this mode, but I've always been really interested in it. Do you actually play the season games, simulate them, or does it just drop you in at parts of the regular season and have you play big moments? Thanks!

I would think it has to be with how the random scores are modded based on which difficulty you played in. I just played on "Beginner" so i can fly thru MTO quick & easy & get my 42 to 44 point towards TA gates. So far I played as the Mets which won 128 games & each game in playoffs or world series started either a tie score or me up by 1 or 2 runs. I didn't enter a game that I was down by 1 or more runs. Same thing with when I played as the Indians which won 126 games.
So maybe higher difficulties 'Vet, AS, HOF, Legend" will mod the randomness so that you do start more games (or every game) with the other team ahead in score with the lead.
