So Franchise still can't use updated roster
-
I use CPU Roster Control when starting a franchise. Anyway, in your case, maybe you have to make room for the player. If you have 40 man filled, you can remove one player from the list and send him down, and then add one player and bring him up. Perhaps you need to click on player to view options available, such as remove from 40 man, send to Majors, etc.

How about downloading a roster uploaded to vault from April 30th to present and using that to start a franchise?
ya tried that, it's not working. it loads but doesn't reflect in the franchise mode.

Okay I figured it out, moving the right joy stick gets to the minor leagues. Now I saved the updated roster but it made no changes in my Franchise roster that I'm currently playing. So how does that work? It seems like the program choses players from the 40 man roster without MLB AAA, AA, or A status. Wouldn't it be nice if that had a help screen or instructions? Na, figure out yourself.

did you manage to download rosters from the vault and use them in franchise? i cant seem to do it or it's just broken.

Yes, I downloaded a roster. Restarted my Franchise anew and was able to edit later and save it, but it still will not change any players in the Franchise mode after I started it with the downloaded roster from this morning. I don't think its possible to change any players once it has started the Franchise. I did have a pitcher injury in my second game put him on the 15 day DL and after that it rearranged my starting rotation and added a minor league AAA rated CF. Go figure? It will be interesting when my pitcher gets off the DL to see what happens next. I'm unable to chose replacements off the 40 man roster, the program does it. Don't get it yet. I was in IT for 27 years before I retired in 2010 and could program in Basic and C Language in the late 80's So I can say that I think this is a terribly designed program for the rosters. If you ever had EA Sports MLB or 2K Sports MLB you know what I mean.

thanks i figured it out.
I was downloading the Live roster which is correct. The game took it.
Just what happens is in Franchise mode, if I skip spring training, the CPU will redo the live rosters for me. So Eloy is in AAA and got called up to MLB and Mercedes sent down to AAA.
But if you do spring training, the Live Rosters which are current do reflect

Yes, that is automatic but try calling up some player from AAA and see what happens. Even when you exit the 'Create' section saving the change correctly it still doesn't change the players in the Franchise that was already in progress. If this program were coded correctly the new file should write over the old file. Basic programming 101 and yet it doesn't which means they didn't program the code to do it or we'd get an error code like 'can't execute" or something. Like I said before, in my opinion this part of the program is poorly written and not user friendly.

It's working as it is designed. The players you start with are the ones you keep the entire franchise. If you expected the rosters to update, that would be a mess, right?
Let's say on day one you trade a player from your team to another team, but when the new rosters come out, he is back on your team in real life, so if you were to load that new roster, your trade would be gone.
If you want to use new rosters you need to start a new franchise, or manually edit everything. -
I was disappointed that they didn’t have last years draft picks in the minor league roster

That’s because the 2 rosters are independent of each other. Any changes to a franchise roster once you start a franchise have to be made while you are inside your franchise file. Changing anything under the create tab just changes that particular roster file. That’s pretty standard on any sport console game.

Okay then explain where in Franchise mod I can call up a player from AAA to the Majors and send one from the Majors down to AAA. No place in Franchise mode is that available unless its buried someplace in the program. Ya, you can change the lineup but only with the players shown in the first place. -

Find the player and choose move player to AAA or promote to MLB or something. I’m not at the game right now so I’m going by memory.

Red_Ted; Thanks so much, I was able to send a starting pitcher to AAA that never got past 4 innings and had a ERA you'd need a calculator for and promoted a lefty AAA pitcher. Really appreciate your help. Its the only thing I really didn't like playing my Franchise now I can move players. Have a great day

Not everybody wants to play a season with players moving all over the place. Like many in this thread I prefer the real rosters as I go through the season. Isn't it amazing that cheap and remedial RBI Baseball 21 can figure out how to update rosters automatically during the season without having to start over your season and this game can't even get the lineups and rotations to transfer unaffected when starting a Franchise? Broke AF.

Sounds like the solution for you then is go play RBI Baseball. I personally don’t or wouldn’t want to play the way you are suggesting. To each their own.

I like moving players from AAA to the majors and back depending on the player's performance. I've already sent a ineffective starter after his third start not getting past 4 1/3 innings and a very bad ERA. Bringing in a AAA starter who is doing better.
