Is that you’re going to get a large portion of the fanbase that simply dislikes those players. There isn’t really anyone around that plays and says “omg I hated watching Roberto Clemente play in the 60’s” but the three they have plenty of us free up watching.

For example, I’m a pirates fan. I literally DESPISE the cubs and Braves, so I have literally no desire to use chipper or Soriano...and at least chipper is an all time great...Soriano was a good player but not a HOF.

Papi....a lot of people hate the Red Sox so again you have the same issue.

Having them in the game is fine...but having them as the holy grails for completing collections makes no sense.

You have to balance the "man, I hated that guy when he played against us" people with the n00bs who say "Mantle? Never heard of him!"

The past 3 years saw debuting legends as the LS Collection (Vlad, Mays, Mick) so we were kind of conditioned to expect that. SDS went a different way this time. I can see where they want to shake things up and keep us guessing, but like you I feel a bit underwhelmed.

We'll know for sure next year, because I'm sure SDS is watching the metrics seeing how many people eventually complete the LS Collection (and how quickly) as compared to years past.

    PS: Outstanding user name!

Not really that underwhelmed about it because we will get all the cards that we thought would be in the LS collections later in the year. Chipper is still a wonderful card.

No one is in a rush to get chipper/Ortiz because

    1. Ortiz was given out for free last year
    2. Chipper has been in the game since legends were added

They aren't new like we are accustomed to

I disagree with the Chipper part. Many people did not get to use Chipper last year cause he was a BR reward. Now more people can use him which means more people will be interested in getting him.

David Ortiz is underwhelming just cause I think that there will be better first basemen added to the game like Babe Ruth.

Soriano is the one that really confuses me. He was a good but not great player. If you wanted a recent NL player there were so many better choices than him.

Sure, but most of the people that rush to complete the LS collections (besides content creators, who do it for the content), are long time players who have seen Chipper a lot of times. Most of us that normally complete the LS collection will still get it done, there is just not as much of a rush/that much hype behind doing it

I like how they are doing it though. I did not like it in past years where the best card in the game was released on Day 1. We will still get Hank Aaron and Roberto Clemente sometime later in the year. (maybe the legends and flashbacks collection in the summer)

His swing feels better than it did last year. I prestiged inning boss Ortiz in '20 and never really used him after because better defenders existed. I think its good to have him available this early because he's viable longer.

Your probably right. I have not used him yet. I have done very well with Ruth in the past though so I'm not sure Ortiz would be an endgame first basemen for me.
