Not everyone is an elite player. What should be done is to make the bosses replayable for half the initial entry fee without losing progress. Last year in the inning programs if you got stuck on a moment you could skip it and still do the others for program points, this year it is all or nothing for 70 (not really fun for the average player).
Just for clarification, I like the showdowns and have had pretty good success so far (beat 1st inning on 1st try and have beat AL Central 3 times)
All losses should be repayable (while losing the reward option if you win after a loss). Time is the only thing that should be lost in 'solo' modes. Someone really good will breeze by quickly while someone not as good will take longer.
I do love the concept of the mode tho. Very different and could be a lot of fun IMO
Also, maybe tone down the [censored] ninja-like diving and jump catch animations lol
The thing is that someone who isn't really good could always choose to grind out the stat missions instead, it'll just take longer. Or you can try and improve your game so that you CAN complete the showdowns. Either way, the cards are obtainable for free for everyone. It's just the path to it that is different.
Really good+ players will always have a leg up on everyone else. As they should. They will make it to CS and WS and get those rewards. They will win events at a quicker rate and probably get the "bonus" rewards.
These players will always have the best rewards and earn them at a quicker rate than everyone else. All I'm saying is that showdown shouldn't completely penalize the non-elite player more than they already are.
I would agree with you if they made the showdown on HOF difficulty. But come on man, it's Veteran. That's totally fair. And like I said countless times before, you're not being penalized because you can still do the stat missions.
The final bosses are on all star not veteran.
Not in the TA showdowns. You probably refer to the 1st inning one. Either way, All-Star is also not hard imo but I'd understand that argument better than saying Vetetan is too hard.
I have not done TA ones because of how nightmarish the 1st inning one is. I really hope you are right. May have to try them instead before I keep bashing it
I can 100% guarantee that the TA ones or on Veteran. In the AL West there is just 1 mission on All Star and it's not even an elimination showdown, so it doesn't matter if you lose.
I’ve done all the division showdowns but the NL East.
Every final boss is on All Star except the AL West. I hate to tell you that because I agree showdown is fun and very doable. I mean, you get 20 outs with stacked lineups and perks to score 6-8 runs. If you get a guy to 2nd, that’s a guaranteed run as long as you don’t run into an out by being greedy.

The mode has a great idea behind it but sliders are juiced and it's very hard.
No reason to have 3 fail challenges.
No reasons for an offline mode to have an entry fee.
No reasons for an offline mode for offline gamers to be this hard.
Yes there are other ways to get players.
You can pay 1500$ and get of all them.

It is? My bad then, fact is that I've only played the AL West so far because I want all of those guys. Guess I made wrong assumptions. Either way it's not a problem to me personally, but still weird that they made most desirable division (the best cards are in the AL West) the easiest final showdown.

This mode really should have 1 final boss you work towards while playing smaller blue challenges

But the elimination showdowns in between give you most XP, stubs and also a pack. I like that.
-
People saying this COSTS stubs are nuts. I've done 5 showdowns, failed 2 and could fail 20 times in a row before I lost stubs off the packs and rewards alone. AND you get a diamond player.
Showdown is great and has potential for some nice evolution down the road too.

Yeah, cost is not my issue, I lost stubs on it one time. I failed every mission including the first boss last time I played. Yes, not kidding I failed every [censored] mission out the box.

My one tip for anybody that is having trouble with difficulty would be go and face Verlander, Hader, Cole, or whoever it is, on HOF in custom BP for 10-20 minutes.

Big fan of showdown so far. Fun, easy, and you get stared at like you're a dessert by three pitchers per run.
-
I like the mode a lot. I dont have any issue at all with starting over if you fail. I imagine many dont remember that video games used to be exactly this way. Galaga, Donkey Kong, Punch Out, Super Mario Bros, etc. Its how they all were. You played until you failed, or completed it. It's old school, and I dont believe it's unfair in any way.

You weren't playing those game to earn rewards so you could get cards to play in another mode (h2h).
Subtle difference.
FYI: arcade (pay to play) version of shinobe was a [censored] lol

Oh I remember, this is exactly what that is like. And it's why I stopped playing those games. Not fun at all IMO.

The difference is also that there are now workarounds if you're not up to the challenge. Back in the day you could either keep trying or stop. Now you can just grind stats for the cards instead and yet people complain.

You were playing to complete the game, where every level was a mini boss. It's similar to me.

Fun mode...until you are asked to hit a home run at polo grounds in which you crush one to the deepest part of the park and get an inside the park home run and the cpu decides that doesn't count as a home run so you lose the challenge. So much fun.

I hate it. I hate moments and this is just a super charged set of moments.
Also, I like using my team I’ve built. Any mode that doesn’t let me use my own team, I do not enjoy.

I feel this. I had that last night. Ball rolled to bullpen wall and I scored on an inside the park HR. Not according to the game. Thankfully Helton hit a blast the next batter up. What a joke tho.

I had that mission, the caveat is to not allow a HR also. So I hit 3 flyballs to CF, so then my turn to pitch, strike out, strike out, Home Run, I fail.

In every way. The entry fees are super low and you make your stubs back after beating the 1st red challenge. You gain XP regardless and you eventually make stubs if you finish the showdown. It's a super easy path to the diamond FOTF players.
I honestly don't understand why people complain about this. Yes, it'll cost you some stubs to enter. Sorry you can't have everything for free all the time. Yes, you need to be able to hit some pitches on Veteran. I mean, it's Veteran. And yes, sometimes you will fail. You lose nothing but a few minutes of your time. Get it out of your system and try again.
you are right and a good perspective - after reading your post ill try it out again
