Getting a bit more excited after today’s stream
-
After watching today’s stream, I’m starting to feel a lot better about this years version of the game. Looks like they listened to a lot of user complaints from last year and did their best to fix those issues. You won’t see that from EA.
Still not sure about all the strikeouts and homeruns. I hope they are turned down, though maybe that’s baseball these days.

Homeruns i get but strikeouts? How would you tone that down? That’s on the user

Pitch speeds, timing windows, pci sizes, etc. I would like to see the ball put in play more.

I actually was hoping for less foul tips...

I wouldn’t get too excited after the bait and switch they pulled with 20.

100% this. I will most likely get the game, but I have very low expectations for online play.

I feel you on this but here’s the thing. 20 was a mistake imo. They tried to bounce back from a lot of lining out on good contact in 19 by implementing perfect perfect and it was overkill. Especially with check swings and foul tips and the way the pitching was games were all 15-10. Etc. they couldn’t balance the game correctly so they pulled back on it...breaking the game horribly. it seems like they went back to the drawing board and kinda figured out what they meant to do with 20 in 21.
I also thought “they pulled a quick one” when they first changed it back however after seeing what they did with 21 I don’t think their intentions were in the wrong place. There’s a lot that goes into coding and gaming that is way beyond what any of us understand.
They took a shot and missed but I think the miss gave them an understanding how to pull it off this year.
( I f-in hope I’m right)

Here is what I learned in all my years visiting these forums. No matter what they do there will be a loud vocal group cursing them for it.
But yeah, it is hard to judge how good or bad their changes may be based on these marketing videos which are meant to convince people to buy the game. -

If pitch speeds get any slower, it will turn into 18.
I mean I feel your pain, when playing online anyone who threw 102 was going to light me up, but that's probably more on me than anything. But the competitive players will destroy everything if pitch speeds get slower.

Yes, last couple days I can't catch up any fastball, don't know what happened, but even my opponents have some problems, I have never seen so many strike outs in Ranked on all-star
-
All I'm wishing for (and it's pretty big, actually) is consistent pitch speeds from game to game on a given level of play in RS. 19 was a lineout fest, but I could play 5-6 straight RS games, and apart from the occasional lagging opponent, I could keep a constant timing. In 20, Bob Gibson would throw like Kyle Hendricks in one game and Nolan Ryan on steroids the next. Instead of around 1,000 games, I played under a 100 and by early August was done with it. Not much of an event or BR guy, where the pitch speeds were better/more consistent.
But yeah, the new pitching system has me intrigued...

Most promising stream I’ve ever seen for any game. The game has needed serious tweaks at the high end competitive level, and low skill casual level for a while and they went all out.
They didn’t just adjust sliders and destroy the gameplay for one set of players, they literally created two additional play styles that are going to save the gameplay and help make it better for years to come. On top of that they kept the same version of MLB they’ve always had, which is the one the Devs actually want to create.
It’s now 3 games instead of 1 in a sense. Casual, Dev, Comp, everybody is happy, and every style still has 5 different difficulties. Everybody wins, except the weirdos that are worried about what other people are doing.
PAR is pretty genius in its design because it shouldn’t really be effected by lag from game to game, but more the consistency of the controller movement from the actual user and the pitchers he uses and gets comfortable with. On top of that every pitcher and pitch is slightly different so a modded controller won’t be able to hit perfects everytime like Shot aiming in NBA 2k lmao.

Wait a minute ... do we have people using modded controllers to play the Show ?
