Implementable Lessons from 2020
-
I believe almost all the below comments are implementable for 2021 since most are merely tweaks or thoughts on planning.
1.) All offline difficulties should be the same. Please don't adjust sliders for things like moments or showdown.
2.) Moments - Delete these. They are truly awful.
If you must make them, make all of them accomplishable to the lowest level of player. Keep in mind moments were in response to the level of grind required in (I think) 18 yet many moments have become a grind unto themselves. At least make every AB against the batters strong side of the plate. No penalties for walks or beans. Allow us to control the runners.
3.) Showdown - Please make the difficulty reasonable. Remember how frustrated people got in the first few months.
You fixed this for stage 3, but please have every game start with the lead off batter. Once someone beats Showdown, they post a review so we know who leads off. It's just a waste of time.
Please fix the reward gate or allow a buy back / mulligan for stubs. Showdown takes somewhere around 2 hours to complete, and it's pretty disheartening when you walk away with almost nothing to show for it.
Enough of get 3 xbh and 2 runs in 2 innings. Should just be about winning or getting out of an inning.
4.) TA - Enjoyed TA for the most part. Why do innings reset from one stage to the next? Makes no sense. Please update.
5.) XP reward path - (A+ on this). Please make it repeatable and everything sellable. There is something unsatisfying at prestige 100 where you don't feel like you are making progress after games.
6.) Prestige - I enjoy this aspect. I'm even fine having it online only (not opposed to offline at a minimum difficulty), but please make the requirements lighter. There are over 100 players to prestige, let's just say there are ~80 batters and they need an average of 75 hits per person (not to mention other stats), that's 6k hits with the right guys. Plus, people dashboard (pls fix). Not to mention, for the first month of the game, there were only 3 prestigable players...So it's not like you had a full game cycle to get those 6k hits. Do the math and put some thought into this.
7.) Events - I enjoy events although I can't buy a win tonight.
Don't do Dead Ball Era (such a terrible event). The Giant event was also quite bad.
As for the timing of events, please be more thoughtful. Moonshot was most of June and the first week of July. At that point, we were in inning 4 and had 9 possible batters to prestige in that event (assuming you bought all of them). Then you released stage 3 TA in early July. Next time you do moonshot, please make sure there are plenty of prestigable players available. I think moonshot about a month after stage 3 TA would have been ideal. If that means releasing stage 3 earlier, that's fine.
My second point on timing is the prestige event needs to start earlier.
Event matchmaking - We have new players joining us this year with the addition of Xbox (and I can't buy a win today). These new players (and I) are gonna be getting our cheeks clapped against WS and BR 12-0 players left and right and it's pretty discouraging. I think RS highest ELO should be a factor in match making. We'll have a larger player base so this will be more feasible in 2021. When searching for an Event game, it should start the search with your highest ELO achieved and the number of wins in your run. This matchmaking set up will make games more competitive without the need for substantial RNG(I understand that the card ratings are RNG in and of themselves)
Event difficulty should never be higher than allstar, unless both players agree to HOF or Legend. (I imagine that if you look through the statistics, you'll see HOF and Legend Events have fewer players.) This would be a simple mechanism, on the events screen, you select your preferred difficulty and if your preferred difficulty matches with the other player, then you can play on HOF or Legend. This would lend itself well to the match making concept above because WS player would be playing against each other more frequently.
Please don't do stadium lock. If you want to play at a specific stadium or don't want shippet, you can home hunt. But nothing is more boring than knowing for a fact the next game will be at Wagonman or Forbes. I would be supportive of you randomizing the stadium for some events (keep in mind the lag at Pro stadiums).
8.) Cards - Increase supply of cards. It's kinda ridiculous when you can't even buy a card if you wanted to because there are a ton of orders in for it.
9.) QoL - Allow us to save Event lineups
Allow us to trade in multiple Showdown vouchers at a time in TA rather than one at a time (I legit think this is just an error because we have the option to select a bunch at a time)
On the market screen, please include 2 additional columns: Owned and Sellable. So we don't have to go into each card's buy / sell menu to see how many we own.
When we complete something, please move it to the back. For example, in conquests, once we beat a conquest, put a "Completed" icon on it and put it at the end, so we don't have to sort though 30 team conquest maps to figure out which ones are still outstanding. Collections menu has the same problem. I have completed the inning collections, please move to the back and signify that they have been completed.
10.) New offline version of ranked seasons where we play the CPU's best version of teams and difficulty increases as you win. You have a smart team...Shouldn't be too crazy to figure out. (innings should count towards TA).
11.) RS - Allow more people into WS. What is the percentage of players who make WS each season? Top 1%? That's not enough. Adjust ELO to allow more players to get in. CS rewards are pretty lackluster.
Looking forward to hearing thoughts.

Read #11, can't take you serious. #9 I can agree with.

I have no idea what the percentage of WS is, but it seems tiny.
I get that it should be hard to achieve, but what's the issue with raising it? If it's currently the top 1% of players, I'm not suggesting they bump it to 10%, but I think bumping it to 5% isn't unreasonable at all. It'll still be very hard to achieve. What percentage of WS players do you think is a reasonable?

How would you make WS more attainable? Lower it to 850? If that were the case, I would have made it a couple times this year.

It's tiny because it should be. There is no cap on the number of players that can make WS. Only skill level allows or prevents someone from getting there. Want to make WS? Get better.
I say this as someone who will never make WS and that's fine with me.

How are they supposed to move the moonshot event when Its locked to early July because that's when the HRD is?

Introduce more prestigable players earlier then. Also, they could start moonshot on the day of HRD rather than early June like they did this year.
It's not locked.

Allow more players into WS? No! If u can make CS, you can most likely make it to WS. Just takes a lil more grinding and maybe (?) a tad more ability.
As far as the rewards for CS, I can agree with you there for sure. The CS rewards were particularly crappy this year. Upgrading those wouldn't be a terrible idea. -
